Yeah, I have a set of Sadowsky flats I'm considering putting back on my MV5. Love the tone of the Blue Nickels that I have on there now, but I miss playing flats.

Had Sadowsky flats on my PJ4 and tried TI Jazz flats before I sold it.
The TI's I really liked but others thought they were like 'noodles' and too floppy.

Tried a lot of different brands of flats including the Sadowsky ones on my NYC Ultra Vintage P4. I always seem to gravitate back to my well used light gauge Chromes.

Had Sadowsky flats put on my Ultra Vintage J4 when I bought that bass new from the shop and put new ones on after about 18 months. That was a mistake. Turns out I like them better as they get older. Finally got this newer set broken in. Not planning on changing them out until they're just absolutely so shot I have to. Maybe I'm weird?

I have TI Flats on my Fender AVRI P bass. They really work on that bass, but I agree that they are like 'noodles'. The tone is great but you can't dig in.

I put the Sadowsky flats on again. No likey. They are just not my thing. I've only used them for like an hour, if anyone wants to buy them from me feel free to PM me. They have been cut for a Sadowsky 5 string headstock.

I like the La Bella Deep Talk'n Flats personally. I've tried a lot of flats, including the Sadowsky flats, but still prefer the La Bella thump over the Sads. I've got a P with TI's on it now that have been on there for well over a year, and are still on there just because they are. But if I ever need to change them I'll probably go back to the DTF's.

Yeah, those are another that I've been thinking about trying. The thing is I only use flats on one bass and they tend to stay on there for a while once its strung.

D'addario NS710. For fretless these are by far the best flats I've ever tried, and I've tried all the above mentioned. Designed especially for NS instruments, VERY expensive but there's no contest. Totally a different league.

I've got a set of Lakland Joe Osborn flats that were on my Fender Jazz for about four years (they're heavily played in) and I kept them when I restrung said Jazz with rounds. Every once in a while I'll put the flats back on and they sound awesome, but I don't yet have a bass that I'd dedicate as "flats only".

Looking forward to trying Sadowsky flats, and I keep a new set of D'Addario Chromes as an emergency set to sell to someone who breaks strings and doesn't bring backups (I'd charge them $20).

I keep flats on one of my Sadowsky P5s (CAR with Brazilian board). Finding a decent flatwound low B is a challenge, more so than rounds.

• I'm currently using the LaBella low tension flats. I like 'em, but like TI flats better.
• I love the TI Jazz flats, but they are spendy and as others have noted you have to play with a much lighter touch (and see note below)
  
• LaBella nylon tapes are nice... brighter than I expected.
• Fender flats have that classic mid-midrange bump.
• DR Legend flats had the best string-to-string balance of all the flats I've tried, including the best low B. Their overall tone didn't really thrill me though.

Flats I have to revisit: Sadowsky, D'Addario Chromes. Tried each briefly, but not long enough to really judge.

Note: I had trouble with TI flats on my P5 because the ball ends are smaller than standard and the low B can pop through the Sadowsky bridge even when properly seated (I had to jerry-rig a fix). The problem is with the string, not the bridge. My set of TIs is 10 years old so perhaps the current sets have proper ball ends.

I find that with new Chromes I need to play them for a fair amount of time before they lose the zing and start to really thump. A short term test of new ones doesn't really do them justice. IMHO, YMMV and all that.

Same with the Sadowsky flats. Give em time. They mellow out a lot.

Newest Sadowsky Club member right here - finally arrived

Metro UV 70 - 2nd hand but basically new (the only marks I can find on it are a few scratches on the pickguard)

Most amazing thing I have ever played

Over the moon happy and perfect timing - jam tomorrow and 3rd studio session next Sunday. All of my bass tracks where locked and loaded day 1, something tells me I may be laying down some secondary tracks this Sunday, you know, just in case
