Newest Sadowsky Club member right here - finally arrived

Metro UV 70 - 2nd hand but basically new (the only marks I can find on it are a few scratches on the pickguard)

Most amazing thing I have ever played

Over the moon happy and perfect timing - jam tomorrow and 3rd studio session next Sunday. All of my bass tracks where locked and loaded day 1, something tells me I may be laying down some secondary tracks this Sunday, you know, just in case :p

I think the Sadowsky site has always been more about the NYCs (since the Metros are available elsewhere). Club Bass, from what I've seen, doesn't re-stock all that often (that's my impression from visiting their site and looking at their stock in general).

Question for you guys regarding strings and tuning down. Got invited to play with some guys on a metal project. Not normally my thing but it was fun. Anyway, these guys tune down to drop C. I usually tune standard and use a drop tuner to play drop D quite a bit. I tuned everything down a whole step. My PJ4 sounded really really good in their mix once I lightened up my technique but I wouldn't mind the feel being a smidgen less floppy. I'm using regular gauge Blue Label nickels. The Black Labels are supposed to be a little higher tension. Do you guys think the regular gauge Black Label would tighten the feel up enough for Drop C compared to the Blue Label? Never tried them so I'm not sure how much of a difference in tension there actually is. Trying to avoid moving up in string gauge since this bass won't be dedicated to this tuning all the time.

Wow, Drop C. That will challenge a bass. +1 to the comments from Chef and Lichtaffen. You can either go to a 5 (downside is SOME tunes may not lay well for fingering) or mess with either scale length (also means a new 4 banger) or string diameter. If you are "stuck" with your current 4, then only the string gauge is available. Thicker will equal more tension, in general. For Drop C, I would find the largest diameter available. Flats will have more tension; but, may or may not cop your tone.

Oops; the other option would be to string your current bass BEAD.

Yeah, this is not something I'm going to be doing in any hugely dedicated measure. At least not at this point. I don't think these guys are actually looking to gig. Mostly just wanting someone to come do some bass playing on their recording projects here and there. So I'm not looking to invest much in this tuning money wise. That BEAD option sounds interesting. That would actually be DGCF and dropping the D down to C. Or CGCF to start and the drop tuner could go as low as Bb if I really wanted to get out there and confuse myself. :woot:
