Club Sadowsky!!!

Hi folks, I'm looking into getting a sadowsky and figured this would be a good place to get some advice. I'm particularly interested in getting one of the 'Ultra Vintage 60's' metro basses, which were a limited run, because it has a vol/vol/tone setup like a good old jazz bass. Thing is, and I'm sure someone has a clue on this, does the bass revert to the vol/vol/passive tone option when in passive mode? Normally most sad's revert to vol, blend and tone when passive.. but because there isn't a blend knob, I'm not sure how things go with the preamp disabled. And yeah I know roger doesn't recommend the passive option unless it's a battery issue, but I figure given the single coils, the uv60 might go some way to sounding like a decent vintage style passive jazz.. and it would be nice to have the best of both worlds if I could :)

I'm no expert but I believe all Metro basses come with humcancelling pickups as standard.
Regarding knob configuration, I'm not sure what you mean by 'revert' but either v/v/t or v/b/t will stay the same passive or active. Only difference is when passive the bass/treble controls are deactivated.

So, my collection has really changed around and I suddenly find myself with lots of Spectors, a Lakland Hollowbody, and my trusty V4PJ. That means my collections has a bunch of PJ basses in it and I started having regrets about getting my Sadowsky PJ instead of JJ. However, it was a custom order and I love the neck profile (shaved like the Will Lee), color with matching headstock, etc. I checked with Sadowsky and will have the JJ conversion done (should have just ordered it with that option in the first place)!

So, I'm kind of curious. I'm going to get a different color pickguard for it with the JJ setup, either black or tort. However, I'm really on the fence. Any thoughts?

NOLA knows drop tuning

Believe me, I had the whole "D" tuning thing perfect and the 2 basses I was using (a Spector NS4 and Metro Will Lee 4) were the perfect tonal pair for it! Then the band decided to go to "C". That meant changing everything (basses, strings, even amp). If they ever change back to "D", I'll kill every last one of them!!!!

I'd go with Tort. Try Sadowsky's sold page to compare pickguards. Is yours Vintage Shoreline Gold? I think I saw that color bass in both black & tort. I photo shopped different color pickguards on my Lake Placid Blue bass to decide which I liked best.

You know, I've got essentially the same configuration in a vintage JJ, but with pearl blocks and a dark Brazilian board. I really dig the mint guard it has on it, something about the vintage gold, black pickups, white scheme. Though tort is cool, seems like it would be too bold with this elegant combination. Maybe pearl white?
