Thanks Fran & fuzzbass! I don't plan to exchange it because the bass feels right to me. It is 3.7kgs (8.15lbs) and the first time I played it at the store I knew I have to buy it. It was also the first time I held a Sadowsky Modern.

There you go! Right decision; assuming you intend to play it and not leave it in its case as a collectors item. Dings only matter if you sell it; and the dings you describe should have a negligible influence on used exchange anyhow. If the bass feels right, take the store offer and keep it. Hi: Can you add me to the list? At Left, 2000 NYC Standard Jazz 4 with single coils, Center is a 2008 NYC Jazz with dinky body, with the only cocobola fret board I've ever seen in a Sadowsky, and Nordstrand big singles. Right is a 2009 Metro Hybrid P/J

By the way, this is also my first bass with soapbar pickups, about the pickup height? Is the neck pickup supposed to be lower than the bridge pickup? What is the standard measurements?

The neck pickup is usually lower to compensate for the bigger movement of the vibrating string. You should really use your ears to find the right height for you but these are the Sadowsky specs:

(bass fretted at the last fret)

Under the "G" string:
Neck = 6/64"
Bridge = 6/64"

Under the "E/B" string
Neck = 7/64"
Bridge = 7/64"

I have a 59 burst Uv70 4 string with a tort guard - im thinking of making it look a little different and pop a bit more by changing the tort to either a black pearloid or Black Parchmant

Thoughts??

Whilst the tort is the classic look - what have you seen with a 59 burst that really made it pop??

Some will cry 'sacrilege' but I approve. For some real pop you could go with gold anodized, but that's expensive and extremely difficult to acquire. Black pearloid should do the trick. I don't know what black parchment is, unless you're referring to matte black.
