Now, a rational person would've just said 'Oh well, I'll wait until then and/or find it somewhere else'. But I've never been strictly rational when it came to gear. So this happened:

I expect that will be an absolutely amazing bass. The WL5 with the J singles is just straight down the pipe of so many good things. Congrats.

This has been said by many here before, I think including Roger:
Metro and NYC quality are the same great thing. Unless you have specific woods or colors or weight goals not offered in the Metro line, there's not really a need to buy an NYC model.
YMMV, I could be wrong, etc.

All I can say is that my RV4 is so bad a$$ that I am kind of dis-incentived from looking at anything else.

If you like a good ol' ash/maple J/P/Modern Soapbar bass, and don't mind the J-bass body, get a Metro. If you decide (like me) that you have to have a P body in a 5 string and that the sound of a Brazilian RW board is a mighty fine thing indeed, then nothing else will do but an NYC. After hearing/playing one, Pau Ferro just didn't quite do it for me. YMMV.

pretty sure solid body is an option on any NYC, sans PG too, unless it's a P-bass.

You can get an NYC P-bass sans pickguard. I even got mine with a Nordstrand Music Man pickup (as you can see, I also own Sadowsky P-basses with P pickups).

YES! I arrived at those in a round about way; but, really glad I found them. The Delanos and the Sadowsky preamp are the final word on what I need for bass tones. Incredible combination.

Guys, I need a little help. I bought an NYC Will Lee 4 here a few years back and needless to say, it has become my #1 gigging bass. It came in a G & G case that doesn't have the Sad name on it anywhere. It's fitted, but there's a small amount of wiggle room when I put the bass in there.

I never use this case (use bags locally and flight cases otherwise). I want to sell it and a guy who just bought a Metro UV-70 5 string wants to buy it. I contacted Dan at Sadowsky to see if it would fit. He said that when they were shipping in these cases, they used one for 'normal' size and one for 'oversize'. He couldn't tell me for sure whether a UV-70 5 would fit.

By any chance do any of you multiple-Sadowsky-owning guys have any experience in this? Of course I have asked the buyer if he wants to measure his bass and send the measurements along. I'm just looking for any info I can get since neither of us wants a situation in which we ship this thing and it doesn't work out. Thanks in advance for any info you have.

Thanks Nick for following up on this. I'm the new Sadowsky owner. Used bass but it is my first Sadowsky. I traded a Singlecut Rbass for it. It has been equipped with Sad singles instead of the HC's.

I always equip my "keepers" with custom radiused ramps. Has anyone here built ramps for their Sadowskys?

Brand New Metro Will Lee 5'er anyone?

Wanted to give my fellow Sadowsky brethren first crack at this.

I'm literally a day past my 7-day trial period on this lightweight little sucker, with the plastic still on and everything and though I could technically return it for credit to Bass Club Chicago, I really don't want to do that. Mainly because there isn't anything out there in 'new Metro land' that catches my eye. I figured there was somebody here in this club who either wanted to:

A) throw a Metro 5'er my way plus some cash to step into Will Lee land ... or:

B) get rid of an NYC to get into a Will Lee AND get some cash out of it.

Now, with that, I have a few caveats:

1) NO PAU FERRO ANYTHING!!! Don't like it. No sir

2) No 1-3/4" Nuts!!! I've gotten used to the bigger necks

3) Not really interested in standard MV5's unless they have single-coils

4) NO PJ5's !!!!! I've already got that covered on this end.

5) Very much like a good ol' heavy UV70 5, and if it didn't have singles that's OK. I can take the cash difference and make the singles happen for me.

6) Would also take a look at any other NYC Moderns/J5's that did NOT have Pau Ferro. A Metro Modern 5 in ash/maple would be JUST FINE.
