I liked them, but since then I've been trying different brands of flats just because I've primarily been a roundwound guy over the past few decades and want to hear the differences for myself. Flats/tapes I've used have been Fender, D'Addario Chromes, LaBella Deep Talkin' Nylons, DR Legends, and currently TI Jazz flats which seem to be my favorites. That said, the tricky thing is that flats sometimes take awhile to settle in, and I'm not 100% certain I've given all of these string sets enough time. Oh well... I still have 'em, so I can retry 'em!

Yes, that's the nice thing about flats - they last forever. I really like GHS Precision flats, LaBella flats and Sadowsky flats. I recently tried Rotosound Monel flats and man those were high tension! Chromes too, very high tension. I like lighter gauge strings these days, so I might give the TI Jazz flats another try. Pricey though!

Hey guys! Got a quick question. I currently have a metro will lee and I was curious to know if anyone went from a will lee 5 metro to a regular mv5 with the larger but width and if so is there a huge difference between the 2 or you can't tell the difference?

Yup: TI Jazz flats are low tension, and also painfully expensive. However just as you said, flats last a looooong time. I bought this set of TIs a decade ago**; I had previously used it on a Fender RB5 that also had a 4+1 headstock. Earlier this year I finally had to replace the B string -- and replacing that one string cost more than most 5-string sets! But there's something about the TI's that makes my ears a little happier than other brands. As for my fingers: at first the low tension was a slight negative, but it didn't take terribly long to learn to lighten my attack.

**A decade on one set might seem extreme even for flats, but for most of my gigs I play basses strung with rounds.

Good point, forgot I'd tried them too! It's one of the sets that I probably didn't leave on long enough.

An interesting feature of the Flexible Flats is that they are nearly mirror shiny; easily the smoothest strings I've ever touched.

Hi everyone, as an experiment I installed LaBella black tapes on my NYC last week... I'd used them before
on other basses, but was curious how they'd sound on the Sadowsky. Results: WOW

Perfect tone for what I'm doing (SRV blues, rockabilly), and as always, their tension and smooth feel are
a player's dream... and on this bass, better than I even hoped for.
