My new (used) Metro RV5 arrived yesterday. It's a 2006, serial M1775 and was upgraded with the Nordy-wound single coils. I bought her from TB'er bbjonz , and I think it belonged to GroovinOnFunk before that. It's a freaking beauty. It's been played over the years, but it's in really good condition. I gave her a cleaning and a setup before rehearsal last night and it's just butter. I didn't get a chance to replace the battery so I played passive last night and was blown away by how well it sat in the mix. Notes were clear, even, and it just sang. I've been wanting a do-it-all workhorse and I think with the VTC and the killer preamp, I have found it. I'm loving the light weight and it just feels like home. I've wanted one of these for years and I can't believe I actually own one. Worth every penny and more.

Anyway, enough babbling.. here's a couple of mandatory crappy cell pics, I had lousy lighting

The first is the sweetest. You'll prolly will never let it go and you will definitely get another. :)

Congrats! I had a 2004 RV5 (#M181) in Oly White / Tort that was my #1 bass for 7 seven years! (also had Nordy single coils!) A very versatile player, for sure. Only reason I sold it (last year) was to finance my 2009 MV5PJ.

I have a black long-sleeve henley with embroidered logo that I bought from the Sadowsky site several years ago. But I don't see that available any more. Kinda shocked when I just checked the 'Wearables' page and found only 2 items for sale - a ball cap and a t-shirt. I would gladly spring for some type of logo'd knit hat, a big-graphic-silkscreened t-shirt. Hell, I might even be down for a pair of those sweet Vans kicks!

Here's a link to the routing for the new pickup. I wonder if it will be a sliding style for 70s and 60s bridge pickup locations.

Agree. Expand selection. Chicago's too cold for short sleeves 3/4 of the year. Bring on the fleece. (thinking a nice 1/4 zip pullover would be classy) :D

She's a dream. Neck's been a little tweaky due to our wacky winter but settling down. Everything else...love love love. Dan's recommendation on nut width was spot on, I had virtually no adjustment period switching from 4 to 5. Cliche' is that these basses play themselves...well, mine kind of does! :) No complaints about sound from anyone, but plenty of compliments. Now just need to work on my skill set being worthy of such a beautiful, powerful instrument. :cool:

Friend at church tried taking some "action shots" about a month ago or so...but I don't sit still well. If a decent shot surfaces I'll post. :D

Ha. At last Saturday's gig a photographer was walking around with a big camera taking shots of the band. I knew I had to get my rock star on (SOME sort of stage presence, anyway) but it just wasn't happening that night, I just felt self-conscious. That's what I get for not drinking at gigs. :D

Yeah, we had a photographer at our gig on Saturday too. Fuzz, you and FunkSheep are good looking people, but when you're old, fat, and bald like I am, a great pic just ain't going to happen, so here's a picture of us just before downbeat on Saturday, with my PJ in hand. If you're curious, the guy seated directly in front of me is our lap steel(!) player, which I really dig in a rock setting-it kind of works out like having someone play Duane Allman parts.

Oh, a funny story about the gig Saturday. We were sharing the bill with the Ordeal, and the bass player and I were going to put our heads together about sharing equipment, EQ settings, etc. I walk up to him while he's tuning up. He has a beautiful, blonde, Fender-style bass in his hands but there's a ton of people around so I don't see it until I get right up on him.

Ed is playing a...........Sadowsky PJ! Guess we didn't have to worry too much about changing things up!

What are the odds of two bass players in a place not only both playing Sadowskys, but both having PJs? Worked out nicely for us, though!

Just noticed, you can see his bass on a stand in the picture above.

Yep, I have no intention (or financial ability) to buy any more basses.

Nowadays, it's the SA200 for gigs when I absolutely positively need that old school vibe and when I have my boy to help carry it, and the Bergantino B|Amp for when I don't!
