I have a pair of Will Lee 5s: a Metro, and an NYC. Quality is the same: superb.
But as for a fiver rather than a four-string, _that's_ gonna be way different, IMHO. Muting is a whole different game on a fiver. Obviously, the neck is wider, so unless your hands are yuuuuuge wrapping your fretting hand thumb over the neck is hard to do. (I use floating thumb to mute in fingerstyle, and palm for right hand muting in slap.) You might find that difference in width most noticeable at the nut, when you're playing in first position. Hey, maybe it's just me--but I don't find it easy to switch back and forth, five to a four.
If you want to try it, by all means go for it!
On a different tack... has anyone experimented with different pickups (keeping be Sadowsky pre)? I like the active sound but am not crazy about the bass in passive mode... I think mine has the humcancelling pickups, and some people recommend the singles, but I'm wondering if others have tried Nords or Fralins for example.
Divot just above the pickup shows that my floating thumb technique is far from perfect. Bass is my NYC P5 that I received in April 2005.

I've tried a couple different pickups in my Sadowskys. My first had Jason Lollar singles (which I loved) but eventually traded up for a metro 5, 24 fret with hum cancelling pickups. At first i didn't care at all for the HCs but found the trick to be incorporating the VTC. I traded that one for some different basses and now I have a Will Lee 5er.
It came loaded with the singles but they lacked the grunt of the lollars so I looked into a few differentbrands and eventually ordered a set of Bright Humcancelling Classic series Barts. I've had them in there for a while but decided to give the HCs another try coupled with the WL MID Boost. This setup I enjoy WAY more the the stock singles and slightly better than the Barts.
The barts were able to get me an authentic Marcus Slap tone, but the fingerstyle even in all the Mid Settings still sounded too polite.

Actually, all flat and satin finishes will turn glossy in areas where they are rubbed a lot (arm contour, back or neck, etc). The rubbing acts like a buffer.

I would like to see a photo of the "satin finish" in white pearl color (with, if possible, a mapple board and a tortoise pick). I might fall for a JB 5 strings...

Interesting.......when I evaluated this pickup, I thought the best sound was from the single coil mode!
There are some basic standard sized soapbar covers that everyone uses.....SD, Nordy, Barts, etc.

I am still experimenting with my MV4 and at this time, I would need more advices on how to tweak the knobs and controls to get the best out of the Tone monster, really.
I have the Fender Rumble 500 head along with a GK Neo 212 cab at the moment. Of course, I'd prefer a SA200 but with the canadian money these days, it would cost me a divorce as well....
I find I have a hard time getting the deep and focused 'slap' bass tone I was expecting from the beauty. I find it harsh and don't know how to adjust the knobs. I tried multiple ways, like with the VTC, treble and Bass controls, etc. I have Sadowsky Blue Label stainless steel on the baby. Maybe, I would need nickels ???
Let me know your thoughts. Otherwise, that bass is simply so comfortable to play

I just paid for my first Sadowsky!! It's a Metro RV5 with VTC and single coil pickups that was in the classifieds. It will be here next Friday and I can't wait! The serial number is M1775 which makes it a 2007. I've wanted a Sadowsky for about 15 years and I can't believe one will be in my hands. Is there anything I should know about 2007 Metros? Was the construction the same as it is now? Any info would be great! The wait begins....

I installed Dunlop Super Bright Stainless steel strings ( my favourite ) and the Sadowsky MV4 shines like she is capable of!!! Thanks and thanks Roger Sadowsky for making such beautiful instruments!!!
Enjoy your new bass, gustobassman! IMHO, rosewood/alder with singles is a beautiful tone.
And Turlu, caught your mention of the Dunlop Super Brights. About a hour ago I strung my Metro WL5 (rosewood/alder, natch) with a set of those. Wow--initial impression is very favorable. Gonna see what they're about for real on next weekend's gigs...

The Dunlop super bright strings re the best I have encountered in my 30 years of playing bass, along with the Helix SS strings as well!
The Dunlop will stay bright for a long time I can tell you that. They have very low tension, the tone is superb for slap bass players and they make my Rickenbacker growl like never before!! I simply love them! They fit really well with the MV4 ! Sadowsky quality is absolutely perfect in all aspects! Enjoy!
