He doesn't play a Sadowsky but I'm supporting the brand. Victor Wooten and I at his Wooten-Woodshed class at Berklee today.

I have a Metro MV5-24 and I was able to get the Sadowsky black bridge on TB about 2 years ago. Bought the black hipshot tuners used here as well
I searched for over 9 months everyday on TB. So best of luck.

Ok then, Metros and NYC Satins share the same essential hardware i.e. prewired preamp, hipshot licensed tuners, and the custom bridge that's different than on the NYCs.

What about the NYC Satin Deluxe? Noticed USA Hipshot tuners went on this model, so curious which preamp (hand wired or prewired) and which bridge made its way on these.

I'm pretty sure it was just the upgraded flame tops on the deluxe and used the same Metro hardware and pre-wired pres as all Satin Series basses.

Just a word of caution for those intending to use NYC or NYC spec tuners on the Metro 5's:

In short, there is a lot more going on with that mod than the color or shape of the tuners. The headstocks are actually laid out differently on the two different instruments. May seem obvious when you think about it; but Roger, being the perfectionist that he is, made sure that the string path from the nut to the side of the tuner barrel was perfectly straight for both instruments. Since there is substantial difference between the barrel diameters, simply performing a concentric enlargement of the Metro holes and installing the NYC (spec) gears does not result in the expected straight line string path.

I just did this mod on my Metro 5; and the result is good with me, even if the optics are slightly less than optimal, simply because I vastly prefer the larger gears. The smaller Metro gears certainly work; but the rest of the Metro construction is so top notch that the tuners for me were kind of like a hang nail. I understand the economics; but, that one is still a bit of a head scratcher.

Anyhow, couple lessons: first, there is a LOT more that goes into these instruments than the casual glance might suggest. Second, it is good to be aware of some of the not necessarily obvious construction details.
