Club Sadowsky!!!

Not so much, anything we played at the resorts were weddings, retirement parties, and stuff like that - didn't seem like the resorts just hired bands to play. We did play some of the resorts, but not for the resort, primarily for whoever was booking the resort for their event.

But, again that was 10 years ago... Things may have changed.

There were some places around Rita Road, I don't remember their names, but those were fun individual gigs...

One of the best thanksgivings I had! Feels more like Christmas!

The super J pickup is pretty sweet. It’s cool that you can actually hear the subtle differences in the 60’s and 70’s position. I haven’t played it in full volume yet but the I’m really digging the 70’s position and the pickup in parallel.

Bass sounds as good as I expected! Put on a fresh set of sunbeams and Roger nailed the tone I was looking for in a P/J setup. The bass also comes in slightly under 8lbs on my scale so that’s a huge plus. Worth every penny and days I spent waiting!

my "baby" turned 21 on Tue. He can finally come to my club gigs. Which might happen if he got off the computer for 15 min :D

Congrats on the bass - that was on the bench when Roger checked my 4-banger before sending it west.

I just thought I’d post about my experience with the new Sadowsky Black Label Stainless Steel strings. I’ve been a user of the Blue Label strings for the past 7-8 years and used the Blacks before that. Since the new design that was recently introduced, I’d thought I’d give them a try. I put them on my Purple Standard 4 on 8/3/17 and just replaced them with another fresh set today. Thats 12 weeks with countless gigs, rehearsals and studio work on the same set and they held their tone. Amazing! The Blacks definitely have that built in grind to them that really cuts. Totally dig that sound. Plus, the slightly added tension feels great with Eb tuning and using a D-Tuner. Not to mention the black wrap that looks great with black hardware. Overall the new Black Label strings totally deliver a great biting sound, have nice tension and hold there tone for months! What more can you ask from a String? I’m loving these and highly recommend you go to The Sadowsky online store and order a set (or 2) and give them a try. I think you will love them too!

IMHO, that's dang near the perfect Sadowsky! Pickup choice, color, crazy beautiful roasted neck... wow!

Not sure if I'm in love with the grey PG though. I'm more of a tort or white pearloid kinda guy. :-)

i would like to ask for advice i own a will lee palisander rosewood/alder and a pj ash / maple both from nyc.
Now I want to buy a PJ with alder body and rosewood fretboard.
I live in Switzerland and can not test the basses in the USA or United Kingdom that are for sale, but I have four to choose from for sale a pj5 alder/rosewood a pj4 alder/madagascar then an alder/paul ferrero and a pj4 alder/Amazon rosewood.

What is your opinion on the wood fretboards do you think that all are very similar

Hello Claudio, Aside from the distinct sound each of those basses will have; the Amazon rosewood should have the most vintage and darkest tone, the Pau Ferro will have the brightest attack and the other two will be in between.

But, I also suspect other factors between the basses could be also important. The 5 string bass will have a more solid base, due to the bigger neck; the 4 stringers will be more supple. Though they are all Alder, I believe you could find some resonant differences there as well.

Anyhow, I’m sure they will all sound awesome.

If the basses are to be shipped to you from outside the country (which is what I'm assuming) then the restrictions on rosewood courtesy of CITES might be a consideration. If restrictions are an issue then that would make your choice an easy one (pau ferro).

Or chechen. My 4-string has that, and it is not CITES restricted. I like the way it works on my bass, and often I find rosewood to be a bit too dead (ebony is typically my first choice fingerboard material). The chechen has plenty of punch and sparkle.

many thanks for your recommendations and explanations about the fretboards woods and the CITES I will probably prefer a rosewood fingerboard Paul Ferro because a bit warmer in the sound for cites can indeed with the appropriate forms the bass from the country send so at least it is in Europe.
