I would think that it would be pretty quick. At least it is whenever I order small stuff. I'm pretty sure that all instruments will go across Rogers bench before shipping so that may add a little time depending on his work load. If you need it right away, like in time for a gig, I would not be surprised if you could call them and talk about that. They are very helpful.

It's been eight days since I placed the order. I was wondering if this is the norm?

If you are concerned then I would call and talk to Peter the Sales Manager. He's very helpful and will let you know whats going on.

Wuao that’s pretty cool. I wonder why most basses in general aren’t done this way. I know everyone has their preferences according to style of music and how they want the bass to sound. But IMHO this could eliminate the need have so many basses. You could keep that “one bass” and convert it at it any point and if you don’t like it just go right back.

If companies did this, there goes any sort of profitability from one person owning multiple instruments from the same manufacturer.

Um, no. Try using one universally-routed bass as both a P and a J at the same gig/session, and tell me how that works out. The conversion isn't exactly quick'n'easy.

Normally, we are much faster about turning instruments around. We recently had a full front-of-house staff turnover and everyone there is getting up to speed.

How long does it take a bass to ship from the store? What has been your experience?

I bought mine when it hit the in stock page on the website. It turns out, it was completed the day before, so Roger spent several days with it as it settled in, to get the setup just right. So, from payment to shipping was about 5 days. I really appreciate the time Roger spends with his shop's creations. When mine arrived I took detailed notes on the setup before switching to TI flats, so I wouldn't lose any of his knowledge along the way. I absolutely love my Sadowsky!!!

Joey, thank you very much for putting up the pics. These are awesome and heavy GAS inducing! But, not as GAS inducing as when you put up pics of your purple and carmel burst standards. Those are some of the best Sadowsky's I have ever seen......

Has anyone here experienced high frequency interference type noise with their Sadowsky hum cancelling Jazz pickups? I’ve encountered it with other H/C pickups over the years. Usually in old theatres under lights or buildings with old wiring etc.
Was at a rehearsal room last night and all the guitars were very noisy, but so was my Metro 5. High frequency noise that goes away when you move around. Not a grounding thing.
I do like the H/C pickups, but single coils never give me this type of noise.

It’s just wiring and soldering...

And swapping the pickguard. Also loosening the strings, then retuning. Then making sure the pickup is mounted at the correct height. Etc.

Don't get me wrong: the universal route and dual pickguards is a very cool way to convert from P to J and back. My point is that it isn't feasible if you want to "swap basses" (pickups) within a gig, recording session, rehearsal, etc. If you need to do that, you bring both a P and a J. That's why I don't think demand will decrease for Sadowsky or any other manufacturer who offers the option. Even if it did, I'd argue that there would be a corresponding increase in demand from those who buy from Sadowsky because of the universal route.

Hi Mark.....It is easy to make a completely humcancelling 4 string or 6 string pickup as the two coils are the same size. One a 5 string, you have one 2 string coil and one 3 string coil.....so although they are much quieter than single coils when soloed....they do have this rotational hum under noisy conditions. If you always play with both pickups on full, you might be happier with our single coils. We have a stacked humcancelling J for our top of the line NYC basses. Please email me if you want to discuss upgrading to these. We are working on a new humcancelling 5 string design, but it is several months away ......

Thanks Roger. It was the first time last night I’d experienced any noise with this Bass, both pickups were on full which is how I normally run. I encountered the same thing on my old Fender Deluxe, went down a rabbit hole of h/c pickups, Fender, Aguilar, and Delano. Only the Delano’s didn’t have the high frequency noise. The noise only occurs in some venues. Rotational hum was never a problem, just the high frequency noise.
