By the way, I was wondering if it would be possible for a Satin Series Vintage 5-24. (Similar to the attached post but in Sage Green.)
Well, I've had my Satin 4-21 for about a week now, and I'm still blown away by what an amazing instrument it is. Both the tone and playability are beyond what I'd hoped for. I have to say, I especially love the neck shape - it's the closest I've ever played to my '77 Jazz - it's got a bit of meat to it. Crazy comfortable. Now I'm just annoyed my band is practicing for a couple weeks...
NBD!!!! My Satin NYC has arrived and is safely in my care. All I can say is wow! Was just able to play it at Club Bass and it was taking my Metro and putting it on steroids! That P pick up is something special. Thank you @Sadowsky. My new NYC is something special. My Pics to follow but here is the store shot. I went with the 59'burst. This is such a hot rod.

Got a clip from a festival show this past weekend. Thought it gave a good sense of the tone of my beloved NYC Will Lee 5. Sound guys did a great job on monitors and FOH.
It's the Mesa D-800+'s DI line feeding _pre_ to the board. Strings are Dunlop Super Brights SS rounds, starting to fade.
The bass is morado board, ash body. Those are the Sadowsky Super J pups; I had the bridge pup set for the '60s position. Just a touch of boost on both bass and treble knobs, with the VTC rolled off about a quarter.

I remember the argument here where some claim that a PJ is inherently flawed design. I love my satin modern.
Well y'know, that's why inherently flawed bassists like Tully Kennedy and Victor Wooten play them.
I've been subbing with them over the last two months. Really enjoy working with them; everybody's listening to everybody else, and the stage sound is a reasonable level. Good musicianship, good original material, interesting covers, good guys to work with.
