It's only blurry and shimmering because it's so feckin awesome.

The Olive Eagle has landed! I just spent the last hour like anyone would with a new Sadowsky bass... you know, cleaning up drool, ignoring important phone calls, etc.... just outstanding once again. I cant thank @Sadowsky enough for this bass! I've wanted a Verdine 5 the moment I saw the 4 string version. Can't wait for rehearsal!
Something I'll have to get used to is not having a pickguard. The depth perception is throwing me off a little, especially when I slappa da bass.. the extra room for pops feels like a mile! For fingerstyle I'm used to anchoring my thumb on the north edge of the P pickup and it's weird not having the PG, lol.. the strings feel like they are in a galaxy far, far away. I know it's mere millimeters we are talking about here
, but it's a change for sure and blah blah blah...

Behold... The Olive Eagle! (cats are just as excited). Some awesome grain on this fretboard too! About 8.2lbs on the bathroom scale and full of booty.

Enjoy it. It’s very rare to have a bass with 3 different but incredibly legit tones, but the Verdine has it.

So far it sounds great through the interface and gonna crank it here shortly. I have noticed the J pup is pretty darn quiet when I favor the J, I'll have to do some measuring and see what height im looking at. My Metro PJ5 seems to have more thump from the J.

This bass is a BEAST! Wowzers...
I swapped out the stainless steels for my preferred nickels, plugged in and played a few notes and nearly shook my shorts off. I may need to lower the P pickup just a wee bit! No lack of thump in the J either, that must have been a weird combination of my interface and the SS strings or who knows what. The bass is about 1.5 lbs lighter than my Metro.. my shoulder and back will be thanking me in no time! It feels and sounds great. Exactly what I wanted.
That lack of a PG though... still throwing me off a little, lol... patience (and practice) grasshopper...
Wow that Ultra Vintage P5 on the Sadowsky site sure is sexy looking! Does anyone know if the upper access on these vintage basses feels like a 60's P ( not very easy to get to upper frets). Or is it an easy access like on the Sadowsky J style body? Come to think of it I've never play a Sadowsky Ultra so I'm not sure about that series at all.

Maiden Voyage tonight for the Verdine White at the venerable Whisky a Go-go in Hollywood. Sounded great all night thru that backlined 8-10.

Cats love delivery day
A few weeks ago I picked up a Skjold 5 string that became my main player but last night our group had an outdoor gig in downtown Nashville and I was gonna be wearing all black so I thought it would be cool to play a white bass (yeah I know, lame way to decide which instrument to play).
So I picked this beauty back up:
HOLY COW! There's no words to describe how good it felt to be playing this bass again.
There's just something about the neck, the string spacing, the tone, the balance... everything about this bass was spot on fantastic.
While the Skjold is a great bass and I love it too I really think this Modern is about to become my main player once again.

I had the honor of playing my first Sadowsky at Corner music in Nashville. It was a five string NYC with Ash body and maple board with blocks, and J pickups it played wonderfully and the sound my God! The salesman laughed when my eyes lit up after playing a few notes, I hope to own one in the future.
I picked up a Will Lee this summer to back up my Zon. Now the Zon backs up the Lee. That's how it goes with Sadowskys.
Anyone that's played both a standard and a WL model in the 5, how important is the difference to you?
I haven't been able to play either in a five-string (I do have a Metro 4-string MS-4). I am wondering whether the narrower neck at the nut of the WL would be beneficial for me on a fiver. Additionally, any other neck differences between them, in addition to nut width? How does the nut width difference affect you, if at all? Finally-- least important to me-- how do you like the mid-boost-switch, do you engage it? And if so, with what center freq?
