Club Sadowsky!!!

Actually, it could be the lighting, but it does look different. The tip of the headstock looks more rounded.

I've spent very little time with a Sadowsky in person, so I couldn't say, but I'll post a photo when it arrives later today (FedEx moved up the delivery date...I'm stoked!).

EDIT: You're right, after looking closely at a few photos online, mine does look a bit different. Guess we'll see later if they've made a change or if it's just the lighting.

@Sadowsky Will it be/Is it possible to order a Super J pickup to retrofit into a (non-Sadowsky) bass? I have a P/J with the J in the 70's position and the Super J would be amazing for flexibility.

Currently, we are not officially selling any pickups separate from our basses. We do have some plans in the works for seperate pickup sales in the near future.

Has anyone in the club put a Sadowsky neck on a non-Sadowsky body?

No, but I once played a multi-band gig with my custom Sadowsky P5 with Nordstrand Music Man pickup, and one of the other bassists thought I had done exactly that. He walked by and said "Hey, what is that, a Fendowsky? Cool bass, man!" :roflmao:

This is a pick up combo I have been dreaming about and plotting a way to make it happen. I love my metro J, Really bonkers over my deluxe Satin PJ, but having played my EBMM ray for 20 years I would love to have that classic growl at my finger tips again for certain occasions.

The Sadowsky preamp is different from the Music Man preamp so mine isn't an exact MM tone clone, but I didn't expect it to be. That said, it's plenty close enough, and has all the growl! Mine's a fiver, and a big reason I got it was that string spacing on Music Man fivers is WAY too narrow for me. I already knew that Sadowsky playability is Just Right, so I was thrilled that Roger was willing to build me the custom MM-style. He had previously done a few four stringers with MM-style pickups -- one for T-Bone Wolk, if memory serves.

Super J is not a soapbar. It is like two j pickups smashed together.
Fo’ shizzle... although it’s a moot point if they won’t sell you one without the bass attached :D

I dialed a lot of the mids out on my Ray so I was thinking dialing in the bass and treb would get me something similar. Once you go Sadowsky.... You change your screen name. lol
Very much appreciate your post.

It's common for people to say that Sadowsky is Fender on steroids. I have no problem saying that my custom is a Stingray on steroids. :bassist:

Mystery solved! It's the normal headstock. =)

And one more for the road...

The pics from my cheap cell phone really don't do it justice. It looks a bit darker than this in person. It's really just stunning. And I haven't even played a note on it yet...I just can't stop looking at it. I know this is probably par for the course for all you Sadowsky veterans, but I'm blown away by this thing. The Sadowsky team have done a tremendous job on this one!

So the finish/color is satin Lake Placid Blue? Either way it is beautiful! But especially so if it is LPB!

Thanks!! It's satin Ocean Turquoise. The satin finish makes it look lighter at some angles and darker at others. I'm really digging it. I got the idea for the color and the tort pickguard from the Fender Elite Jazz line, but I figured Sadowsky could do it better! =)

Oh good heavens. My first MIJ Sadowsky, MV4-NAT, rocked my world. The rare trans white MV4-HPJ killed beyond belief. And today, after a little minor drama at shipping and receiving, the “used” sonic blue Teppei model arrived here from Tokyo. Whoa. I am ruined forever for lesser basses. Setup perfect, playability perfect, tone incredible, not a mark on her, Porta-Bag. :hyper: Crappy cell phone pics:

That is a beautiful bass, nice pick! I love my Satin J-bass (mine is Dark Lake Placid Blue). It's just perfect, and the finish gets compliments, too. You have a nice one there.
