Is there a name for the anxiety you feel when you're planning to play a gig on a bass that isn't a sadowsky? I need a PJ for my next gig, and that means my EBMM Caprice is getting the call. Don't get me wrong, its an amazing bass, but it's been so many years since I've played a gig on anything other than a Sadowsky or a vintage Fender ... I'm nervous! I'll have my preamp pedal as a security blanket. Its been so long since I've had a sound team say anything other than "wow, sounds great" during the minute of soundcheck we spend on bass, I don't want to go back there!!

I know what you mean. Since I switched from StingRay5 I find I have more confidence in me and my gear. Putting my Sadowsky in my hands fills me. Gig jitters have been kept to a minimum.
When I had only my Metro 5 Jazz and had to play some Motown I would dial down the VTC and roll up some bass. Thought it did an admiral job. Definitely not the PJ but it work for the song. Just a thought.
Lol. Just go play. The player makes the instrument, not vice versa. Ive seen plenty of guys with amazing basses that cant play them at all and the next band up has a dude with a squier who blows him out.
Id rather play with my sadowsky but ill play a gig anytime, just hand me something!
The caprice is a real nice bass. You are spoiled man. Haha.

I totally get your point but curious why you feel you couldn’t get close enough to a PJ with a Sadowsky JJ. I could understand if you only had a P and want a PJ sound , that would be tricky. But I have a J bass with a Sadowsky on board preamp and find I can really get pretty much everything my PJ got in a band setting.

I remember Joe Osborne (RIP) wanted Fender to send him P Bass, but they sent him a J bass instead. He just panned to the front PU for close to P bass tone.

Maybe I used to know this.
It feels like the NYC 5 I just got is 19mm string spacing, and the Metro MV5 I've had forever now is 18.
Is that right?
And maybe the NYC neck is a tad wider?
I looked for this on the Sadowsky site, for like an NYC v Metro FAQ, and couldn't find it.
