Club Sadowsky!!!

I've owned my Sadowsky ME5 Ash/Maple for a few months or so. I have had it on at least 20 gigs so far. I really didn't see this coming, although a few people told me this would happen; It has absolutely cemented itself into first place as my first grab gigging bass. Pure magic in the band mix, feels great, super lightweight, plays wonderfully. I am over the moon. I've been gigging a Nordstrand VJ5 Modern for over 10 years and it is no dog. It is absolutely sensational. But this Sadowsky just has 'that sound' that works. Wow.

I am conjuring an order in my head for a NYC 5-string Vintage 5-21, Alder, Amazon Rosewood fingerboard, JJ single coils most likely, maybe with a flame maple top. Dunno. In hindsight, I would have ordered or bought a Satin NYC-5 too. But I wanted to try the Ash/Maple Sadowsky first. I thought I preferred Alder/Rosewood, but this Ash/Maple is working out great. I still want the warmer Alder/RW variant as well and might still consider a satin finish, but I'll probably opt for a full-tilt gloss finish. I may consider a PJ, but I've been such a die-hard Jazz bass (5 string) player for the past 10 years and that works for me. So we will see.

Here is my Sadowsky ME-5.

When Roger announced the Japanese metros everyone said “see! Roger is selling out and offshoring!”. Look how that turned out. I can’t wait to try the new line. Will they be at winter NAMM?
They'll be at NAMM, I really need to go to NAMM one day. I don't care how loud it is, I love gear and innovation and that would be paradise for me. Now how to figure out how to get affiliated with something to be able to attend in the future...

At the same time I've been on this planet and paying attention long enough that there are just certain countries I won't buy "premium" product from. Japan and Germany are not among that group however.

The Japanese ME is really really terrific. I only sold mine to fund a used NYC custom but I miss it. The Japan ME will be quite rare and maybe coveted in the future. It may be the line to truly earn a pre-Warwick label.
This is great to hear as I just purchased one that came up on TB the other night and although I have been a customer of Roger’s for many years (back in the day fretjobs, and use his on board preamps) this will actually be my first Sadowsky Bass after like 25 years of wanting one.

Winter NAMM definitely not open to the public.

Don’t worry though....there will be plenty of people from the general public there that got a pass from a friend of a friend.

Best of luck to all the attendees from the Club here. Can’t wait to see all the pics from Lee!!

Interesting then, well now I know for the future when I plan a trip out that way. I'll put up a classified add on TB "looking for a NAMM friend"...:bassist::bassist::bassist:

The pics really don't do the finish justice - the Oahu Blue Burst has a beautiful aqua color in the middle that I can't get to show up in pics. Really looks like the ocean with the figured maple top...also can't believe how light it is.

I'm working from home and have been in meetings all day so I haven't had a chance yet to plug it in. Can't wait!
