the other thing i also like about the SD's is the shielding and grounding is the "best" in my opinion. totally wrapped up in copper foil, makes them the quietest SC's on the market i've ever played. i don't subscribe to the concern about loss of high end, because even if it's measurable, i can't hear it, so it's all about noise reduction for me.
Carey has done more shielding on his pickups at least for Roger than his norm (his norm being properly grounded, but no shielding on the pickup at all... totally relies on route shielding), but still not as much as the SD's. Carey feels the tonal effect is enough that he wants to take a much more conservative approach on pickup shielding.
