Had my first gig in 3 months last night. Felt great! I had doubled down on daily practice during lockdown, and could feel the benefits on stage.

In New Zealand we are down to one active Covid case as of yesterday and will be hopefully getting to the lowest level of restrictions this week. Basically normal life with closed borders. That will mean more gigs starting up again. Fingers crossed!

Oh and the Sadowsky sounded mean!

Quick question regarding guitar stands and wall hangers:

Being Sadowsky Basses have a nitro coated neck, has anyone had any issues using specific hangers, namely Hercules with regards to nitro necks melting or discoloring?

Hercules used to state their foam did not react with nitro necks. They do not claim that anymore.

I ask this question being I just redid a studio at home and purchased Hercules+ wall hangers.

Long term: will Sadowsky necks hold up with these hangers?

With close to 9k Basses out there, you guys can shed some light on this.

I've been using Hercules hanging stands -- floor stands -- for many years, at home and at the gig. I had to replace one a year or two back. The stands have had no effect on my Sadowskys. I would think that the wall stands use the same material as the floor stands, but I understand your concern, so perhaps you can verify that somehow. Have you contacted the company directly?

I would think that the wall stands use the same material as the floor stands, but I understand your concern, so perhaps you can verify that somehow. Have you contacted the company directly?

Hercules has a disclaimer regarding their SFF(special formulated foam) on the website that states they tested it, but check with the guitar manufacturer.

I wanted to see if Sadowsky Basses ever had issues from our users.

If my floor hanging stands use the same SFF as your wall hanging stands, then I would tell you not to worry. Again: years of use with Hercules, three different Sadowskys, no adverse effects whatsoever.

Loved the Supertramp cover, too. What is the wristband thing on the nut? A Southern Hemisphere calibrator or something?

Haha, yes a hair scrunchie as a mute. I just leave it on all the time. Mainly for recording, foam at the bridge end and a hair tie at the other end for super old school thump.

Thanks Fuzz, been a Hercules user for over a decade, just a bit cautious now because I never had a nitro bass.

My main hanger at my house is a string swing and it's fine.

I highly doubt that any semi reputable brand would be a problem. This issue has been around for a long time and no manufacturer wants to be known for screwing up peoples instruments. I think that most manufacturers bring it up as a CYA measure. On the other hand I'd proceed with caution regarding off/unknown brand products.
