I know there are some who prefer the sound of VERY broken in Flatwound Strings. I am not one of those people, I prefer my flats to have a bit more clarity. So, I find myself with a set of Sadowsky Blue Label Flats (45-105) for a 4 string that I just took off my Satin Verdine White. They were on for maybe 5-6 months, but I'm not even gigging, so they haven't been played a lot. They're just getting to the point of losing the zing on the top end so...

The first person that PMs me with their address (48 Continental U.S. States please) will get these strings mailed to them free of charge. A little Holiday Cheer for you.
And no, I didn't pay the current prices for these, I only wish I had bought 5 or 6 more sets.

So as the battery dies so does the circuit.. I would think that the circuit would operate at full tone and just shut down when the battery dies.

I’ve never done that with any of the Sadowskys I have owned. I have always believed that the neck/body matching was part of the goodness, and that the setup and final adjustments were sort of dependent on those matches to achieve the best possible result. I used to trade parts on all my Fenders, though.

Speaking of body swaps ... I have a black maple PJ5 with serial number 4288. Former Tully bass:

Sadowsky NYC PJ-5 FS

[Separate curiosity: It has the nordstrand made pickups with angled polepieces in it now vs the straight polepieces in those photos.]

And theres another older thread where a PJ5 being sold as 4288 has a burst body.

So either that old post had the serial number wrong, theres been a refin ... or a body swap. Anybody know the backstory? I’m mostly just curious if the body is ash or alder.

How does your Tobias (Killer B?) match up with the rest of your collection? Does it have strengths or weaknesses the others don't?

Back in the day, I gave the 5-string Killer Bs a look, but there weren't any dealers in my town. If there was, I probably would've dropped in as they appeared to have everything I was looking for.

Luckily I was able to buy it back again a couple of weeks ago. This one is a real player, huge and deep tone and lots of sustain. It kicked a Fbass out of the house. I will never sell it again! :)

i bought a used NYC a while back pretty much identical to that, except mine has the singles in it (assuming yours is the standard hum cancelling).

i guarantee the seller regrets it.

that bass has as much mojo in it as literally anything else i own. i sent it back to Roger a few years ago to have some work done and while there, i had him strip the back of the neck and redo it in gunstock oil. HOLY CRAP that bass feels like "home" and KILLS on every level. currently has flats on it.

i also love the "sleeper" aspect of it. it just doesn't look like much, hopefully not that attractive to a would be jackass thief.
