I think you're thinking of the MetroExpress line. The Metro/Metrolines have always been $2500-3500 new.

Inadvertent pickguard shootout
I wanted to do something different than tort on this ME, and what tort is to some here at TB, that's how I feel about pearloid. Debated white or a color too, but settled on black. I'd outreached Pickguard Planet, as suggested by Sadowsky.com and mailed in their form as well as a tracing before inquiring. They wanted the actual pickguard, however, so I hesitated. Hat tip @RNG1 for suggesting Quick Guards so I texted them. They were good with just a tracing, so I sent that in and paid.
Weeks later, I got an invoice from PP, and I was confused thinking I'd already paid, having confused them with QG. Shrugging, I dug into my emails and realized what was happening and asked, and they'd found an ME template and the tracing would suffice. Since I'd already agreed to buy (not knowing they needed the actual pickguard, and then didn't), I paid them too. Of course I probably could have gotten out of it, but wanted to make good given the effort.
Below is what I got.
Pretty well identical with QG on the left and PP on the right with the difference being PP omitted the center screw hole above the PU. But, both line up nearly identically with each other, and with the OEM tort guard. So, I went with the QG and put the PP in my file cabinet for now.
I'm not recommending against PP at all - in fact it turned out awesome. But, I can highly recommend QG as well for a few bucks cheaper and a couple weeks quicker.

Probably get myself tossed out of TB for going away from Tort, but I like the pearl. No idea what is up with the lighting, it is kind of minty green looking here!

go with your gut. the tort is more classic and connects better with the body color, but the pearl stands out more, and it connects with the pickups and chrome hardware. so in both cases, you have matchups, making either one a good choice IMHO.

Burst is one of the few cases I like tort. But now I'll be forever thinking black pearl on a '59 burst.
Having said that, without ever seeing that one above, I'd have gone white pearloid myself and imagine it looks terrific on '59 burst. Glad to know I'm not the only lover of the pearloid.
I've been watching that one on reverb. I like it but the camera angle makes that one look more gray to me. Here's my before and after.I don't know, this one is fairly convincing / stunning:

In better lighting it really stands out.
I know some don't like pearloid but I really love the look. It really pops on this bass from the satin finish.After is a big improvement IMHO.Very nice bass!
Best bass at $2750 (after discount) for sure! I mean a Fender Ultra is going for $2100, and the Metroline just blow it out of the water.
The [5-string] Fender Ultra just saddens me how disappointing it is, particularly the location of the G-string, but overall I was very underwhelmed. Finding a 5 string Sadowsky makes me happy, as it is everything the Fender should have been, and then some.
I absolutely love the finish on that one. What finish is on the spec sheet for that one?
Warwick listed this as '59 Burst Transparent High Polish finish. I couldn’t resist when I saw the pictures of this finish online. It’s absolutely stunning in person.

Funny...In the US Bass Player that came out today, it is the best above $3000!
It's absolutely perfect, I'd have a hard time saying no to that one too.
