Sadowsky strings are the best. I use the nickels on my Sadowsky 5 and I use the steel with the light purple wrap on my 75 jazz. The steels have a certain growl and treble I can't describe but it's the best I've found. I hope they continue to be made the exact same way they have been for the last few years. I did order a pair of the steels a few months ago that had a darker purple wrap that didn't have the same zing as the others, but I think it may have been an anomaly, as I 've order another set of the steels and they are just like the normal steels I'm used to.
Question for the Sadowsky braintrust.
Are there differences in the neck profile on the Japanese metro 5 string and a US built Sadowsky?
Specifically my 2007 metro sounds great, but the neck is not fast or comfortable to me. I find the neck on my US Lakland much more comfortable.

It's just a matter of taste but for a fretted bass, I really prefer flats on a hollowbody. Wow Man, I just tried my first set of Sadowsky flats. Apparently they are only made in the blue label line now. What a gorgeously musical string, the tension is just right. Move over Thomastic-Infeld jazz flats!
I must say, I dig your affinity for green basses @MAJOR METAL... Eye catchers for sure!
The Sadowsky flats are such a great string and definitely contribute to my "sound" at this point. We just had our 20th gig of the year yesterday (in a pandemic! mind blown..) and the strings sound good EVERY time we play. These are 3-4 hour gigs, any roundwound string I used in the past would have been dead long ago. Mind you, these strings were on the bass for well over a year and had plenty of gigs/rehearsal on them as of Jan 1st this year. I know flats are said to last a long time but I'm still getting used to that. For me, rounds lose their sauce pretty darn quick regardless of brand. The Sadowsky Blue Label Flats have saved me a ton of loot, lolol.

1600 Broadway. I used to get intimidated in that hallway as a kid because I knew that Will Lee, Marcus Miller, Darryl Jones, Neil Jason, T-Bone Wolk, and a host of other heroes of mine took the same elevator and walked on the same floor to get to the shop. I tended to over-romanticize things back then, but no regrets now because you take the magic where you find it. Plus, I found out later that Roger treats everyone with the same courtesy and respect.
