I played my new MS5 at rehearsal today for the first time (we are auditioning singers). Good god, what a beast!
I hit the opening low D (3rd fret on the B string) note on one of the tunes we play and the singer we were auditioning stopped and said "What the hell kind of bass is that, I FELT that note"!
I have had active Fenders, a Stingray 5, a Lakland 55-02 and even a 18v Bongo 5 and NOTHING has ever cut like this thing. The articulation is incredible!
I mentioned to Paul/Bassjones/choad that I bought this when I talked to him on the phone today, and he probably put it best when he said "Metro 5? You probably won't play any of your other basses again". He may be right.
The VTC control is amazing. I even ordered one to be installed on my 1992 NYC Sadowsky 4 string.
For the first time ever I think I have the tone I have always been looking for. I am one happy guy!

I had a chance to put a new set of TI flats on my bass today. Very nice. They're a little brighter than Sadowsky flats.
No divorce! My wife just bought a pair of insanely expensive shoes in NYC.
I found that instead of bass being at 10 and treble being at 1 or 2, I had bass at 7 (could have gone lower) and treble at 4 or 5.
The bass is crazy good. I am amazed. Even more amazing is that I used my backup rig and it still cut like crazy. An Ampeg B2-RE and an Ampeg 1x15 cab. No effects, no SansAmp, no BBE Sonic Maximizer.... completely clean. Can't wait to try this live through a couple of 2x10s and my Markbass F1.
No idea what I am going to do with my 2 EBMM and 7 Fenders now!

I've got the twin to yours. However, that's the sharpest looking ash grain I've ever seen! I had a similar experience. I had been playing a MTD 535 with the band I'm in. I showed up with my MS5 and as soon as we started playing every band member took notice. It was all smiles and nods of approval.

Now I do! Just came today. I've only spent a couple of hours with it, but it's everything I was hoping for (except it doesn't weigh 8 pounds).
I don't know why I can't get a good photo of the 3 tone sunburst finish though. The blend is much smoother and the red isn't so prominent in person. The pickguard still has the protective film on it, so it looks a little dull.
No doubt. I rarely ever have mine over '1'.That bass boost is crazy. Over 3 clicks and you could blow up a stack of 8X10's
Also, I find that I don't often use the treble or the VTC. Sometimes when I slap I'll add a little bass and treble but man with this circuit, a little goes a LONG way.
One word. Flash. NEVER use a flash when shootin' yer bass. Get as much ambient room light as possible, but not incandescent table lamps... too "yellow". Use fluorescents. If you don't have those, just shoot in a room in the house that gets a lot of daylight. Shooting in direct sunlight can be a problem as well.
I'm playing my New Sadowsky tomorrow night for it's first gig. I'm confident it will perform well. It's obviously a quality piece.
My G string nut slot is cut a little too narrow for a DR .45. I wonder if the DR tolerances are off a little. I haven't heard of any Sadowsky nut problems. I was hoping to get my Blue labels in for this weekends gig but they haven't come yet. I suspect that the Sadowsky nut is cut really exactly with no wiggle room.
The only other issue is a scratchy eq pot. I'll keep an eye (or ear) on it. I't might work itself out. I'm sure they'll take care of it if it's needed.
Just goes to show, even $2000.00 basses can have imperfections.
I'd post a pic but we all know what a Natural Ash Jazz bass with a Maple board looks like.

Okay guys, please excuse my ignorance, but my Metro UV 70 4 string is the only Sadowsky I own, and actually the only one I've ever played. Some of you have more Sadowsky's than I've had Fenders over the years.
If it's not an impossible task, are there major differences in sounds from the various models (ie., UV's; Moderns; etc.). If so (as I suspect there are) can those differences be briefly explained to a novice like me? I know I like my UV a lot, but now I'm wondering about the other models. Thanks.

If I ever buy a 3rd Sadowsky, A Hybrid P/J is it. I almost bought that one in natural but get a used Metro 5 at the last minute. Great bass!

Here is a picture of my UV-Ash. I've asked for single coils to be installed and here they are being installed. Its my first sadowsky (possibly my last because I'm not sure I could justify another one with the wife).
Can't wait now.
Nice ash... I hope it goes with pearl blocks and binding.
