Fantastic sound. Great musicians all around. That's a great singer, and of course, loved the bass playing and the sound. Can't go wrong with a Sadowsky.

you made me go on a toto youtube crawl. refreshed my memory of all the porcaros, the band, the history, the music, the enigma, etc. awesome. always loved that band.

Played a gig in San Antonio, TX this week where the FOH engineer was a guy that used to mix FOH for KC and the Sunshine Band back in the day. After sound check, he approached me wanting to know details on the bass I was playing because he said it was one of the best bass tones he’d ever heard. Granted, I was running a pedalboard rig using an HX Stomp with Ampeg SVT amp and 810 cab IR settings routed through a REDDI, but there’s no question my Sadowsky WL-5 was just as responsible for the tone sent to the board.

For gigs without an amp and cab, I've been thoroughly impressed by the little HX Stomp. I tweaked the stock settings quite a bit, added a global HPF, a bit of compression, and found an Ampeg 810 cab IR that I really like. Then, the REDDI just takes it to another level adding some nice tube warmth. Definitely sends a great representation of a SVT/810 rig with a mic on it to FOH.

I already posted this in the Mesa Subway club but figured what the heck... We did a livestream at Wildcat Studios last evening (part of Wildcat Guitars from Escondido). My Satin Verdine White 5 w/ Blue Label Flats was killin it! Anyone in San Diego/Orange county looking for a pro livestream setup, these guys are the real deal.. Don't know why it its in two parts though. Enjoy!

I did initially use the stock SVT/810 amp and cab combo on the Stomp, and that cab is not bad sounding by any means. To me, at least for the SVT settings and choices, the Stomp seems to be geared more to an edgier sound and that seemed so with their version of the 810, too.

So, I started down the IR rabbit hole and found a few 810 cab choices that I like a bit better and were, to me, more representative of how my Ampeg 810 cab sounded live. Currently, I'm running one of the Shift Line 810 IRs found here (I think I'm using the #12, but I don't remember): Shift Line Bass IR Pack

I also tried out the Dr. Bonkers Ampeg 810 IR pack and like all of the sounds from this one, too, but it comes with a LOT of IRs and it was a bit overwhelming to go through: Dr Bonkers Bass Cab Classics Volume 3: SBB 8X10 Bass Cabinet IR...

I've downloaded a few others here and there, but these two have been my favorites so far.
