Anyone have anything negative to say regarding markbass? I know their good just checking due to not having played through one before- I’m sure I wouldn’t be disappointed

To be completely honest, I’ve found their amps to use very low quality parts which cause a lot of unnecessary noise and make me very wary to change any settings in a live setting. I’ve used many heads and speakers of theirs and found this to be true on all the controls. I’ve had to send two out for repairs and they don’t warranty any repairs done outside of their warranty service with Guitar Center (at least years ago when I had to utilize them).
Sterile or problems haven't been my experience, been using them (LMII, still working perfect) a CMD 210 with 210H extension, CMD 112 with 112H ext. since 1995. Played in Classic Rock, Classic Country, and currently Hard Rock. Two acts on Femont St use Markbass, they're not sterile either.

Carpet covering makes it a non starter for me
I have cats, so I would be buying a scratching post if I got the carpet covered cabs. Sonically I'm fine with the tones you can get at least up until the LMIII series. I have not tried the LMIV series yet. For me, just a few hundred more and you can get Mesa quality, made in the US, great sound. When they moved manufacturing from Italy to Indonesia and pricing didn't drop, my interest in Markbass plummeted. I still have a Nano head as a backup but not in regular rotation.
i always felt their native voicing wasn't bright and clear enough for me without using eq... maybe a little to "classic" sounding for my tastes, but again, a few knob twists and it was fine. my go-to these days is pretty much GK (if i use an amp at all... most times i just run my FM3 with in-ears). been playing GK since the 80's off and on, and they just speak to me.

I was able to play my new Super P/J (and some friends) at a private party over the weekend. It sounded great, like a somewhat brighter, somewhat more aggressive P/J (keep in mind, I have an ebony board and it's loaded with Sadowsky Black Label SS rounds), which is just what I was after. Generally prefer it set to reverse-P for the neck and '60's location for the bridge.
It's always a dilemma choosing what rig to bring, but you just can't go wrong with the WD-800/SW215.

So I knew mesa was good but again I’ve been out of the amp game for a while sticking with hartke but it’s time for an upgrade! Right now I’m looking at the mesa boogie d800 and the 410 cab. It’s just a touch more than the GK equivalent. I’ve ran a couple GKs in the past never had any issues there
I'm leery of GK after my MB800 Fusion died with little use, was repaired by GK and died again after just a few minutes/hours of playing. And their "support" was at the least reluctant. I gave them a chance, hesitant to give another chance. My Mesa gear has been solid. I have the D800+, get that one over the D800. The HPF alone is worth the extra $100.

as Roger says of course with the Customs you can get what you want, but if you're talking production basses like the MetroLines, I think it is, though I welcome correction.
I am wanting a narrower nut. The 1-7/8" nut is a little too wide for my stubby fingers.
Just so I am clear, all Will Lee basses have the narrower nut. Like this German Metro, for example...
