Sorry if I’ve missed this in your postings I’m not around here as much as I usually am but have you ever tried him A Metro (german or Japanese) Will Lee 5?

I read some of your post and that seems to be the base you need to have in your hands if you want to stick with a Sadowsky five.

I’m probably late to the party and not telling you anything you don’t already know 1000 times over

I know everyone’s situation is different but I buy all my basses on those no interest 12-24 month financing deals. I’ve barely made over 40 K a year until VERY recently and pay 10k a year in child support.

But then again, a lot of that is possible because those women are no longer in my life, to ask me why the heck my bass collection looks different than it did last week. LOL I just had a breakthrough.


Roger‘s basses are … whether it’s the NYC instruments I am so honored to own or the overseas variants which use his design and his quality standards … truly the benchmark for tone/feel, for ME.

I have played some killer made in Korea and made in Indonesia basses that I find at guitar center, whenever I’m in. If they had 19 mm spacing, 34 inch scale, and the ability to have a vintage tone control, I would probably own a few.
Random aside:

One of the bases on my list of “why the heck did I ever get rid of that? “ is a Roscoe 5 That I upgraded with Aguilar pickups and a Sadowsky preamp. If it wasn’t for the 35 inch scale bothering my left wrist I would still have that instrument. It had such a tremendous feel and low mid rich tone.

I am 40, so I have seen a bunch of the changes in bass design and availability but I have to imagine that guys who are 10 or 20 years older than me and up have to just be blown away by all the different choices there are now.

We are living in a bass-building renaissance.

Rogers basses are really nice. They have a tone that is one of the best around.

My Roscoe 5 has the most comfortable feeling and playing neck I have ever had. It’s one of the few basses that has stayed with me (10 years) for any length of time.

I will never sell the Roscoe. The 35” scale doesn’t bother me as the Century body puts the first fret closer than the LG and SKB bodies. I put it away for a while when I got the Sadowsky, but took it out for a “smooth jazz” gig last week. It kills in that genre. And with the DR Hi-Beams, I think it will work better for the cover band as well. I’m going to try it on a couple of weeks when we have a gig again. I think I could be very happy with my Roscoe P and Century 5. I like the Sadowsky, but maybe not enough to hang on to it. Just need to determine a good/fair price and see if there’s a buyer out there.

I know some here may consider you "indecisive" but if you have a neck profile you like which doesn't cause you pain, go for that. You and I have done our experimenting, know what we like and what works, we don't have enough time left to bother compromising.

Thanks. It’s a great bass and I wanted/tried to love it. Someone else will for sure.
