I wouldn't say Japanese Sadowskys are superior to the German ones. The German ones are chambered and since they are more recent have the improved string trees, bridge, nut etc which most Japanese basses lack. I will say that the Japanese electronics are superior to the German ones I tried (same circuit I know, but the German ones seem a lot noisier). Neither are a downgrade on NYC quality IMO in terms of finishing.

i currently own two japanese metros... one Line, one Express, and have played other Lines before, totally agree with this and of course Roger's assertion. he had such a close relationship with Yoshi, and they both were so totally aligned on things, it simply worked out that way.

May I join the club? Here is me sitting in the back of the tour mobile just leaving The Low End in Nashville with my new-to-me Sadowsky German-made Metroline Satin 4-string. Up to now I’ve been playing Pedulla 5-string almost exclusively for the last 20+ years, but this tour I suddenly developed a concerning case of tendinitis in both arms. I slapped light gauge strings on the Pedulla, put tapewounds on my LedBelli 6-string and set it aside for particular applications, and bought this. I’ve craved a Sadowsky for YEARS. Today was the day!

Yes, it is that "close relationship" which I covet. I like knowing that my Japan metroline was built in a Sadowsky specific shop and not manufactured by another bass company. Not knocking the Warwick builds at all, just my little take on it. I suppose it is a bit like my 63 Jazz, it is certainly no better than my custom shop model (which I actually prefer) but I enjoy the special history that comes with it. In my head I think of my metroline WL4 as a "Sadowsky metroline" as opposed to a "Warwick metroline." Silly and illogical I know, but it is what it is. That said, I am sure that if I found a Warwick metroline that spoke to me the same way as does my Japan model I would happily consider it.
nah, instrument selection is very personal and emotional for those truly passionate about it (and music itself), which we kinda' by definition are, as shown by what we're willing to spend on an instrument, so this makes sense to me.
Thank you! Got to Knoxville, the next stop for us, and here it is out of its case. Anyone who would like to help me bask in the glory of finally reaching this moment, I’d love to hear your experience with this bass (German-made MetroLine). I just want to talk about it with someone and no one in my band gives too much of a crap about bass guitars, LOL.

First outing in a long while with the NYC 5-24, in Menlo Park CA. Little did I know that the guitarist had just picked up a Jimmy Bruno model arch top! We never sounded so good. I believe there is a video floating around somewhere, I'll post later.
