The balance pot operates in the opposite direction (to what I'm used to); turning it counter-clockwise selects the neck PU - should I re-solder the 2 red cables at the pot ??

My second question is on the frets, they are all slightly out of the fretboard (wood shringage?), should they be leveled by my local luthier ??

To get a lower action on the G-string, any of you using a shim ??
Yes, just swap the two red wires.
Can't answer on fret sprout, that's up to you. If you find it bothersome, should be an easy fix for someone qualified.
I've never had to shim any of my Sadowsky basses, but if you're familiar with performing your own setups, I'd look at that first, especially if you're finding it to just be the G-string. As someone else posted, can likely be fixed with a few simple steps.
