The balance pot operates in the opposite direction (to what I'm used to); turning it counter-clockwise selects the neck PU - should I re-solder the 2 red cables at the pot ??

My second question is on the frets, they are all slightly out of the fretboard (wood shringage?), should they be leveled by my local luthier ??

To get a lower action on the G-string, any of you using a shim ??

Yes, just swap the two red wires.

Can't answer on fret sprout, that's up to you. If you find it bothersome, should be an easy fix for someone qualified.

I've never had to shim any of my Sadowsky basses, but if you're familiar with performing your own setups, I'd look at that first, especially if you're finding it to just be the G-string. As someone else posted, can likely be fixed with a few simple steps.

Try tightening the truss rod 1/4 turn and lower the the G saddle

Thanks - neck is straight like a pencil, G and B saddles are at the bottom. I prefer an ultra-low setup, so I'll try to shim.

I've shimmed many Sadowsky's, it's no big deal. That's one benefit of the bolt-on neck.

Sure. Whatever angle is created by the thickness of a business card I've used all sorts of shims over the years from business cards, plastic, wood, etc.. I'd estimate most were around 1/32" thick, plus or minus. I've never given it much thought. I just place the shim at the heel to pitched the neck back slightly and adjust from there.

Hey yall! I have a mig metroline j5 and while plugged in with a cable it's quiet, but when using my xvive wireless system it buzzes loudly. Especially when I point the wireless dongle toward the preamp controls. Any of you have any problems going wireless with your metrolines? I do believe the pickups are the hc pups. I have a brubaker and fender and I use the wireless with no issues at all.

I'm also curious as to why sadowsky changed the headstock logo from the curved look back to the straight style on the german metroline..?

My #1 for cover band gigs and I would not be without it. Between the blend and VTC I can get any tone I need. P body with JB neck which for me is ideal also. I know it gets debated here, but a PJ is just a P bass with a much expanded tonal palate, and I don't believe the purity of the P pickup is soiled in any way. Roll toward the bridge pickup if you need midrange bite or 80s tone. Roll to the P for 70s rock, Nashville P sound, warm P tones. VTC adds even more broad a range. TBH, the only thing I'd do with a straight P bass is enjoy it at home if it was an old Fender with flats.

It’s the XVive, not your bass. The XVive does not play well with some basses with preamps. I’m saying this from experience and having spoken with people from XVive in person at NAMM 2020.

Ah gotcha. Was hoping that wasn't the case but I will have to go another route as far as wireless. Any recommendations on what will work with a sadowsky preamp?

Hmm interesting. Maybe there is something wrong with mine. I'm assuming Roger's preamp is the same design from the Japan model to the German one.

The "German" ones are worse in my opinion (I think they're actually made in China). They may be based on the same design, but the one I recently purchased to replace my TYO preamp is significantly noisier unfortunately. I believe there were more significant issues with the electronics of earlier Warwick Sadowskys though so worth checking when yours was made.
