Definitely agree about the Sadowsky P/J. One of the most versatile basses I’ve owned. Here’s mine in a 24 Fret configuration with a Jazz width neck.

Hello Jmm757,

According to Mr Sadowsky (some pages ago) the issue with the noisy preamps of some german Metroline basses was settled after a few months.
And if you check the latest posts in the forum you will find no complaints about it.

That was an issue related to the China made RSD basses and not the German built basses.

I believe all the 5 strings are 18mm. The difference on the Will Lee models are at the nut only. All the bridges are the same.

As far as I know their metro express line had noisy preamp issues. That model is made in China and have corrected the issue with their recent batches. Didnt know their more expensive metroline (germany)basses had the same issues. Mines weird bcuz I only hear the issue when using the xvive. Might try another brand of wireless to see if the issue persists...

Yep, they’re 19mm. You can get 18mm on an NYC you’re having built and I’m sure 18mm on a German Custom Shop, though on an NYC at least, everything else stays the same (neck dimensions remain the same as if it were 19mm spacing).

The only current exception to a production model would be the 5-string MM/J basses - they’re 18mm.

I had the same issue with my NYC and that type of wireless system , it's not the bass but the wireless [ Bluetooth ] system. Bluetooth wireless needs to be place anyway from the guitars pre-amp

I play in a '60s soul band and use Fender Precision Basses with flats, typically. I also own an American Elite Precision with rounds, so I've been leery to invest in a Sadowsky with as many basses as I already own (a bunch). Is your Sadowsky PJ German or Japanese? Weight?

The first German metroline had a buzz problem with the pickups installed, it was the case with mine, Warwick-Sadowsky replaced my pickups and since then everything has been fine.

I was just using a cable, the noise didn't occur consistently, let's just say the pickups caught from the environment easily. Sadowsky sent me the pickups after having analyzed the type of electronics in my bass (based on photos) to be sure of the series concerned. I think the original pickups were just not humcancelling. I have been replaced by a Parisian luthier that I know well, Sadowsky had offered to send them the bass but I was not reassured about transport (French shippers :().

Pickups on my Japan metroline will lee are single coil and have nor buzzed with xvive.
