Just so you know, if you go to sadowskybass.com/instruments/MetroLine and click on any of the pictures of the different basses, you'll see a breakdown of features for that instrument. Under the "Body" heading, you'll see the body is chambered. This is true of each model. Hope this helps.

Like a Lakland 55-94 or 55-02, this gets a decent Jazz sound. It might be a viable option for me.

Seems like and please correct me if in wrong the expresses have cheaper lower quality hardware to make pricepoint. For instance the metroline bridges vs express. If you look at the parts site they list the express bridges as diecast and 59 bucks while the metroline has brass and it's like $160..

What kind of irks me that the metrolines are in the $3-4k+ price range and they are using "licensed" tuners while the bridges are the same for USA and German builds.

Metrolines are German built. Do you mean Metro Express? MX basses are less than half the price Metrolines, the savings seem to come from Chinese manufacture and less expensive hardware. The trade off seems fair to me.

Agreed yes i'm fully aware express= China line= Germany. And they have to do what they can to keep pricepoint but using licensed tuners on a 3-4k German built is whack.

Another winner from Bass Bonedo. After listening to this through good headphones, I'd pay the extra dough for the Metroline. Even though it's a steep up charge, there was a depth and solid presence the Metro Express didn't match. Those have to be different pickups.

100% however Roger has stated many times if you want more options that's what the NYC shop is for. I have seen some really neat colors on the express line such as army green etc.

I too wish that more manufacturing had stayed here in the USA. Sadly, it has not. This has been a slow motion train wreck over the past two / three decades.

We are a small planet. We are all of the same cloth, with different cultures. If fortune prevails, we will learn to coexist with each other some day. In the meantime, perhaps it is a small step for us to participate in constructive commerce. I’m gigging gear from USA, Canada, Germany, Russia, China, and Japan. Probably other places as well. I appreciate the efforts of all of those workers, who make this activity possible.

My most recent bass acquisition is a Sadowsky ML Will Lee 4. The supplied tuners were fully functional; but, the model lacked the Extender key on the E. And, I wanted a little personality; so, replaced the gears with USA HipShot Lollipop gears.

Be aware, the bigger issue for replacement is that the German gears have a very slightly longer distance from the gear center to the set screw through hole. Too close to fill with a dowel and re-drill. So, mounting the USA aftermarket gears is a little “whack.”

Thanks for the heads up on that. What was your solution? Just jam the screw in essentially? Ones of those close but no cigar type things?

Nice vid. Both sound amazing. To a non-cork sniffing bass player, they sound essentially the same.

From a cork-sniffing standpoint, the ML sounds more even, resonant and full bodied; while the MX sounds more focused. I could see either having appeal. And, as mentioned, pretty sure the audience couldn’t tell any difference.

i prefer the ML. But, the lack of color choices in the ML availability is pretty limiting.
