Club Sadowsky!!!

Is it Nitro finish? I thought Roger had discontinued Nitro bodies?

I asked Roger and he was so kind to agree to offer me nitro finish for the body. I must say that I was impressed by the fact that with such a huge list of famous customers and a lot of other people that over the years have bought many of his basses, way many than I could even think of (this is just my 2nd Sadowsky), he made me feel like I was his #1 customer. He simply was so kind to walk the extra step to make me, Joe Nobody, an happy customer. This says a lot about the man himself.

Maybe current Metro owners can chime in...I don't remember the tuners on my Metro saying Hipshot on them. It was over a year ago when I owned it, so my memory could be faulty.

So I checked with the original owner regarding the black hardware.

He acquired it from various sources and put it on / together himself.

The silver hardware was original and the tuners did say Hipshot on them.

Yeah, he's smart like that. First, your money spends just as well as theirs, and second, especially at the high end, it's critical the vendor understands it's not a commodity business and folks expect (as they should) very personalized service. In fact, it's even more important for regular folks, because that chunk of money has a much greater impact on their lives than the wealthier more famous folks.

Remember, Roger started off in the service business, so he well understands you reap what you sow when it comes to customer service. When you couple that with a best of breed product, you're successful, just as he deservedly is.

So, just a little FYI, I closed my for sale ad on my Sadowsky, but I didn't tell the wife. :hiding:
She thinks it's still posted (it is technically, just the post is closed) and no one is buying high end stuff right now!!!
Thanks God she doesn't hang here in TB!!! :D

Hmmm...someone just registered under the name Mrs.MikeBass. Hopefully there's no relation though.

Miiiiiiiiike!!!!!!! You scoot your little butt down to the forsale forum RIGHT NOW and open that thread up again! If you don't, it's back to sleeping in the tool shed for you Mr!

Guys, I'd like to hear your opinions about the pickguard for the bass. I ordered the usual tort guard but right now I'm toying with the idea of a parchment one ....

About tort: I like very much red tort but I've never see a red tort guard on a Sadowsky. Furthermore I'm not even sure that, being red tort available, it should match well with '59 burst: it would go hand in hand with a 3TS for sure (maybe because of the red in that finish) but with this '59 .. well, I dunno...
They use brown tort that varies from "more on the brownish side" to "more on the yellowish side" (which I don't dig so much ... in fact I'm going to ask Kevin to see a shot of the pickguard material before they start to cut it).

About parchment: It's just a tought right now. Maybe it would "open up" nicely the whole look of the bass. Is parchment "less white" than mint, right? More mellow looking I mean ... What do you think?

Order both is not an option. Here's the body front shot once again for reference.
You should have in mind that in the process of uploading the image to photobucket and then to TB the pic loose something ... it looks more "yellowish" here.
It's way better in the pics sent by Kevin where it looks more orangish-brown ... more similar to the real, I guess.

OK - I'm a sick man. :help:

I have a V5 w/ a 5A top on order already but I spoke to Roger on Friday and decided to order a Modern 5 also. I've wanted a Cherryburst Ash/Maple one for a while and haven't been able to find one.

So now I have two NYC's on order. :D

And if that wasn't bad enough I scored a smokin' Spalted/Ash/Ebony Modern that should be here Thursday to hold me over until mine is ready.

Well, it will be warmer in there than it's been in our bed lately!!!!!
Now shut up woman and go make me a sandwich and get me a beer!!!!!!!

If Joel would have just bought it in the first place, we wouldn't have this problem now would we woman?!?!??? (sorry Joel, it's you or me....so you lose!!)

Thanks, Roger. Would you say there is a "Standard 5 sound" vs a "Standard 4 sound" or is there a great degree of variance from bass to bass regardless. I really love the sound of both my 4 and 5. I'm just wondering if the next 5 I order from you guys is more likely to sound like my current 5 or my 4.

hey stop breaking Rogers balls, people are waiting for their basses already!
joking:ninja:

Dr Jim has one with a P Body, spalt maple top and a PJ setup with no pickguard. He doesn't post on TB that much anymore though.

Shucks, Mark. I wish I did have a P/J with a P Body, spalted maple top, and no pickguard!

Mine is a P/J, but has a Jazz body, a maple AAAA quilt (no spalt, alas), and parchment pickguard. I might also add, I post WAY too much! :D :D :D

Oh, yeah. Never tire or posting this beauty! The most perfect photo of the most perfect P/J! Yeah, OK, IMHO! :smug:
