Club Sadowsky!!!

Cool, nice playing and great tone, I get a little confused when some of you players mention a MS5 NYC,

On the Sadowsky website, an MS5 is a Metro standard 5, can't figure this one out, is the MS5 made in NYC?

As Burke said, MS actually stands for Maple Standard, not Metro Standard. Then there's also MV, RV, RS, for combos with Rosewood fingerboards and/or Vintage configurations. Vintage means pickguard and control plate.

The whole MS, MV, RS, RV thing is strictly Metros. The NYC's are simply called "Standard 4" or "Standard 5" or "Vintage 4", etc. Also, "Modern" is strictly Metro, while it's NYC counterpart is called "24-Fret".

People here on TB mix terms from time to time, but the above is the real deal, and is confirmed by the current terminology used on the Sadowsky web site.

I noticed that the string spacing at the bridge on the Will Lee model is 20mm. Do all Sadowsky 4s have 20mm spacing or do the other models have the standard 19mm spacing?

Yeah man, that's a really lovely smooth sound.

Yep, maybe a little too smooth, I expected it to be more aggressive. I think the whole mix got a bit over compressed. Maybe because of the nature of a live TV broadcast they were afraid of clips during the show. Still a great cutting sound, IMHO.

Has anyone tried the vintage 24? I'm very curious... how much space is left between the neck pickup and the fretboard, would it be comfortable to slap away?, the tightest I've played has been 1 1/2". I'm very tempted but that would be an issue for me.. anyone?

I just explained on another thread that no matter how much I love my other basses, it is always a Sadowsky that gets to play the gig.

Agreed. IMHO it wasn't too smooth at all. It was just right.
