Club Sadowsky!!!

I think there are a LOT more Laklands out there because of the Skyline series, which is within the reach of more bassists as a result.

Scott: I spent some time yesterday trying to find the eact spot in that Behindthenotes video so I could send you some details about where to find that particular part of the discussion, but I couldn't fast forward the video and my internet connection was getting flaky so I thought I'd just try it again today. Glad someone beat me to it. I was going to try to explain the "bump" myself, but figured I'd screw it up and it would be better to find the video of Roger.

I do love the way my Sadowsky sounds in the mix.

IMO, the vast majority of the Lakland posts are about the Skyline models. Dan Lakin did a GREAT job with that line. They are priced VERY aggressively, there are lots of models, and they are in distribution EVERYWHERE.

Even the Metro line of Sadowsky basses are in the 'boutique' price range, and have limited distribution compared to the more mainstream Skyline Lakland models. All good stuff, but the Skyline basses are within the pricerange of many more players than the Metro's.

There are probably 3 times as many posts because Lakland is much more accessible having the lower price point lines out there, like the Skyline series with both the 01s and 02s. A lot more people can't afford to get their hands on them than the 2k+ Metros.

Haha! Thanks, Bart! Yeah, I was up until 2:30 this morning watching that video and researching Sadowsky bass builds an stuff. Great stuff!

That's my favorite look! I had Lull like that in the past, but it was a 4-banger.

I've done a few searches myself and haven't come up with anything. The closest I got was a tort shell PG, and that's usually on his P/J models. I just kinda squint when I look at it and try to imagine... :smug:

Bartman..you hit the nail on the head...If you follow the Lakland owners thread. You will find a very high number of the posters are Skyline owners. I am not downing that, at all. As has already been said. Dan did a very good job and found a great niche with that product line. I own Lakland (USA) and Sadowsky (NYC) basses. If push came to shove and I had to dump a couple of basses...the Sadowsky basses would still be here...'nuf said. :)

I guess it could also be the one line responses that some of the guys do just to move the thread back up and add to the post count...I got so lost trying to keep up that I do not go on those threads at all now. I would come home and there would be 2 entire pages of nothing really about the basses...It could also have something to do wth the fact that I returned a Skyline DJ4 because the PUPS buzzed unless you were touching them and I was told and I am quoting here...

"Lakland could no longer meet my quality standards"

That is EXACTLY what I was told by Grasshopper at Bass Central as it was told to him by Lakland. Needless to say I do not own ANY Laklands at this point and have no intention of EVER buying another one...period. I am a Sadowsky Fanboy and have been one since I played one and bought the first one. I think I would have a heart attack and die if I heard anything like that come out of Roger Sadowsky's mouth...

As far as people beating up on us I got a LOT of that and I just stayed away from TB for a while because of it. Now I just ignore the idiots for the most part. If you get it, you get it, if not, oh well...it ain't worth getting worked up over...

IME Musicman 5's are similar to Sadowsky basses in that the real 'magic' is in the mix. I used to get annoyed at the somewhat 'doinky' tone of my Stingray 5, but it sounded GREAT in every venue I ever played it in. Bar none. Those newer mulit-pickup variations sounded even better when I played them. I harbor a crazy dream that Ernie Ball will one day offer a 19mm version. I'd be all over it. Sound crazy? Who would've thought that Modulus would have added a 19mm model? Anyways, tangent over.

I would love to get my hands on an older MM SR5 too..1988 to 90 and lightweight... My friend had a light one around that time and it was great..
Everyone i play these days are like a boat anchor.. just too heavy for my taste..
I just love that single Pup Punch

But i have to say that my Sad NYC PJ5 has gotten me work.. engineers love that bass in a mix....
