alder/maple/rosewood
Koa top with sap wood
and vtc

It's so great to get a bass which you continue to go DAMMMN every time you see / play it.

Thanks very much Ken! I have been reading the comments on the "flashy topped jazz basses" and I think it's important to show where I'm coming from. I have the Olympic White '64 J and Sunburst '71 P, but, for what I had wanted in a Sadowsky (for almost 20 years) it had to be exotic topped. I got the quilt 5 a few years back and it was soooo good I was then on the hunt for a comparable 4. I had been hassling Kevin for a few months and then this one (which is what I had pretty much spec'd up to be built) WAS actually built... I just had to have it and yes, it's simply AMAZING!

Here's my current collection... bit of old, bit of new and each is equally great for it's particular tone

oh, plus this new Suhr fits in nicely

Not sure, but I got it from Mattyiop who got it from someone else. I was lusting after it too! I was going to settle for alder/morado but the ash/morado was what I wanted.

Nice! I like the looks of that Purple with the quilted top. Black hardware would look killer.
I called Kevin at Sadowsky a while back to see if Purple was still offered. And, it is!!

Hmmmmm, a Purple Standard 4, AAAAA Quilted Top, Flamed Maple FB with Black Hardware and D-Tuner???

Oh... PLEASE tell me you didn't put an ebony board on a Jazz Bass

You know I'm just funnin' you guys. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it isn't still killing. All is not lost. Get a maple board on that thing, yank that P Bass pickup out of there, get some singles in it, and spray it Candy Apple Red, and you would really have something there.
