Sadowsky peeps: Does anyone play vintage Fender P's and Sadowsky here?

I love my '71 P tone, but want to venture away from my Fender's and get something new for my next bass. I have never been an active guy and I don't know if I would care about the change. Can anyone shed light on this?

My first bass was a '70 P and I still have it! All original and beat like the fake relics. It is a sledgehammer. But I've never been crazy about the neck shape. It is a perfect roadhouse bass and soaking wet it is a svelte 8 pounds!

the Sadowsky JJ is way different. And has so much more clarity of tone, is a chameleon with different strings and all the pickup/VTC and EQ options. And to top it off it sounds killer in passive mode. Add to that an incredibly ergonomic playability that is hard to beat with anything on the market.

It's crazy funny that when I've taken my beat up P it garners a lot of unappreciated attention. I'm absolutely scared to leave it unattended. Not so with the Sadowsky. Most go hmm! and comment about a cheap knockoff. I still don't leave it unattended but feel a bit safer.

I'd say don't even hesitate. I've been a Sadowsky player since '91 and not ever thought of giving up that bass.

I get that all the time. I take my NYC PJ out to every gig and only once in a blue moon do I run into a bass player who has heard of them. Most bass players just say that I'm getting a fantastic tone out of a knockoff Fender and that I'd probably sound even better with "the real thing" and I should save up and get one.

I don't see the point in correcting them. I just thank them for the compliment. I don't see the need in telling them what it's worth. It's probably a lot less likely to get stolen than a MIA Fender.

Yep. The Sadowskys are my only "modern" basses, most of the time I play 60's Ps, and occasionally Js.
For me they compliment each other perfectly - if a vintage Fender isn't the right tool for the job then the Sadowsky usually is, and vice-versa.

I get the same comments with my VPJ5.

I only get the oohs & aahs when I bring my real Fender out.

I made some changes tonight.

Check it out!

First, I removed the pickguard on this one

Second, I install a bell cover on my Will Lee. Yes people, I used a drill on my Sadowsky.

Now I hope I'll be able to play with the bell cover.

Visited the shop today for a set up on my UV70 and some strings. Thanks to Rob and Kevin for taking great care of me and Mr. Natural. My bass looked so good when Rob was done that I was worried the wife would think it was a new one!
Saw Will Lee perform last night in the Village so I had to complete the circle and check out the WL bass. Loved the neck, thin and fast. Happy Holidays to all...

i have something i wanted to ask everyone. would it be kosher to put a Sad. pre into a Fender Jazz 24 like this one?

let me know if this is a good idea or not. also what could i do with that left over switch? i was thinking a series/parallel switch or a kill switch

A very good idea! I put one in my Fender Jazz FMT and this bass is a killer now! It sounded good before, but with the Sadowsky preamp it....wow!

That would be a great idea! I'd do the kill switch if it were me.

I have a question for my fellow Sadowsky using TBer's do any of you use a MSR Octave pedal or BBE stomp box. I am thinking about picking up one and wanted to hear some of your opinions.

You're selling the seafoam green RV4? Oh no!

Well, I won't let it leave the house until I play the MV5 to be sure, but after that...I wish I could keep both but I just don't know if I can justify that. We'll see. I have the RV4 advertised so when/if it's time to sell it's out there.
