Ok, so my intention here is not to start a flame war. It is just a simple question, but I know it can be touchy

So I know in the metro line(don't know about NYC) Roger does not use reinforcement rods in the neck. I'm just curious on why he does not.

Thanks for the notes guys. The bass is amazing, structurally and sonically, looks killer too. I've never owned a bass before which was so "dead on" on every aspect.

I think the question should be why Roger does use reinforcement on the NYC models at all, not why it's not on the Metro line.
My Metro's neck is straight as an arrow, much better than other reinforced basses that I have and had.

Most likely to help keep the price down. That's clearly a goal on the Metros, but not the NYCs.

YMMV, but every NYC I've ever played has had more of that "alive" feeling to it over the Metro, and I think the fact that the neck is stiffer has something to do with that.

Of course that's not to say the Metro necks aren't great, because clearly they are... but I do feel the NYC necks are even better.

So I bopped across the river around 11:30 today, the J to Essex/Delancey, and then the F over to Brooklyn - is not the J M Z line the filthiest, and the stations the most beat up? Most definately!

I was mad when I got to the Sadowsky shop, to find out that number 401 had already sold.

I have been jonesing for a P/J type bass. 30th st has a 74, maple board P with a J pup added and an active pre-amp. But I already own too many Fenders, including a 64, a 72 and a 73 P. But that 74 sure did sound nice, but I realized I needed to go Sadowsky land.

I was hoping that the red used P/J NYC they had would still be there.

It was, tried it, and a few others. I was sold. Bought it, took it home. I have been thinking "red" as I own no red basses, plus I wanted a maple board. Here's a pic in the cool case:

Plus Kevin got me this cool hat, so I wont be "guy in black leather jacket with Fender hat on" anymore as I walk around the city. Note crushed Fender hat in pic above.

FWIW and IMHO there is absolutely no difference between the feel of a Metro and an NYC, and only tonal differences when pickups and wood choices aren't the same, just as you would expect within either line. I certainly can't hear or feel the difference between the Metro and NYC necks.

Here's my new birthday bass. I asked Kevin to send me a picture before it shipped but I didn't think he'd ask someone just sitting around the shop doing his paperwork to hold it for the shot! Oh well, I can always photoshop it...

Seriously, a great sounding and playing bass. Fat stacks and flats is really doing it for me. Now for the P/J 5...
