They should just be the humcancelling pickups that are standard on all metro and NYC models. DiMarzio makes them for him, wound to his specs. Im not sure if he's tweaked them over the years. Maybe u like the morado board plus your amp and cab mate better with this bass. Who knows? All that matters is that you are rockin' it and feelin' good about your gear. Thats all that matters, in my opinion. Beautiful bass, BTW

Bikeplate certainly know his Sadowsky's better than I do. However, in that picture the covers appear to have the "sandblasted" finish which would mean they are single coils (on the 5 strings). If smooth, they are the HC's.
Hard to tell from the photo but I will guess these are my humcancelling pickups.

They certainly are, they are really quiet and the finish is smooth, not sandblasted. I guess it's the combination of the morado board and the alder body that makes this bass growl more than the ones I used to own, and also the different amplification that I'm now using is certainly helping.
Nothing really fancy, but I love it!!! This is the sprayed body of my (soon-to-be) fretless Sadowsky.
I hope that somebody at the shop is already working on it and not wasting their time posting here
