I set the bridge pickup as high as possible. I then lower the P until I achieve a reasonable balance between the two. The P will ALWAYS be the louder pickup.

Roger, is there a place on the Sadowsky website that has all of the factory setup specs? I looked but wasn't able to find anything. That way if someone posts this question in Sadowsky Club (Part 13) we can just direct them to a specific place.:) Part 13 is only about 80 ..er..79 posts away.

There is nothing on the site.....it is on my "to do" list. I've been so busy giving refunds for excess shipping charges that I haven't had much time for anything else! ;)

I am going to hire my son to work for me this summer and one of our projects will be to make some videos for the site. The first one will be a set-up video!

Yes, that is very cool! But I was thinking just a chart with the setup specs would be much more convenient for us old hands at doing setups and pickup height adjustments. Something like Fran posted for Johnnydi.

Maybe something in Excel would be easy. Heck I bet one of the guys here would volunteer to put something together for you. ;) I would volunteer but I'm not all that good at Excel anymore.

Is that basically because the P pickup is essentially a humbucker wired in series? That's the way I always understood it.

I know I'm gonna let go of one but I don't know which one yet as I own three, 4 string rosewood. One morado, one Madagascar and one Brazilian.

Does he have a preference about what kind of rosewood?

dont forget that the bridge pickup is a humbucker too if its hum canceled.. there is more string movement in the area closer to the neck (P Position )which adds to volume as well as that P pickup has a wider coil front to back dimensions than a J pup does, so i think that adds to some of the output.. just my take on it

Yeah, but I don't think the bridge pickup is wired in series. I think most HC pickups are wired in parallel. The other reason I asked is because I have both JJ's as well as a PJ, and the P pickup just seems a lot stronger than the neck J pickups on the JJ models. I've always felt that's where the heart and soul of the P sound comes from... the series configuration of the two coils.
