Yeah, I've heard of that... it's basically a bracket to allow you to essentially make a double-neck bass, but only when you want to. It attaches via the neck plates and rear strap buttons, and works with both 4 and 5 string models. Most folks usually use it to connect a fretless to a fretted. Pretty cool, really.

Wow.. looks like your Pups are real close to your strings,,, maybe its just the angle of the photo?
Do you get any Wolf tones if you play up the neck around the 20th fret of so?

I cant get my PJ5 that close without too much string pull causing beating...
Nice low action you have though..
And I thought my action was low on my basses...
Looks like yours is on the deck..

In for 14 with a fresh new (to me...) NYC P/J 4!
I recently got this from Basskadet (thanks Peter!), and it's my second "originated from Bikeplate" Sadowsky. I joked with him that soon I would own more of his sadowskys than he does :D

Anyway, it's alder with a beautiful Brazilian board. The neck is quite a bit thinner front to back than my 24/4. It feels absolutely wonderful - closer to my '60 Jazz than anything else.
It's much more mellow than my ash/maple basses... I could actually envision boosting the treble on the pre with this bass - unthinkable to me with my ash/maples!
The J pickup solo'd, ordinarily a sound I would never use, sounds beautiful with a bit of extra bass boost. The solo P pickup sounds... like a Sadowsky take on the P bass!
I really look forward to trying this one out in a gig situation. If it works out like I expect it to, this will be my next road bass and it will be replacing a refin '62 P, no small feat for a vintage P lover like me!!

It's mostly the angle of the photo, but I do like a medium low action with a pretty small amount of relief. I usually "seat of the pants" my pickups at 1/8" from the string to the pole on the bridge pickup with the string held at the last fret, and bout 2-3x that on the neck pickup. Then I tweak from there.

I'm currently trying to do a lot more with more subtle dynamics and I find I can have a more nimble and bouncy bass line if I can use a lighter touch. I also find I can get a lot cleaner tone and a better/longer effective note decay if I hit the string in such a way as to not distort it too much (aka really digging in hard). There is a really cool dynamic you can get by playing hard, but I'm pursing the other side right now.
