Spectacular. Absolutely. If I ever get another fretless, it's going to have lines. I got rid of my old one because I'm honestly not exact enough to play with out frets... or staring at fretlines. Possible that I'd have gotten better at it with practise, but I'm not so good with frustration, so I never gave it the chance it deserved.

I love that blue one. The grain on the other's pretty as hell as well, though I'd put a pickguard back on (maybe a clear one). Just personal taste. I like the way that Maple looks with the natural-finished body, as well.
Question: Why the screws in the middle of the pickguards? I'd never noticed that before, though now I see that they're pretty standard on the Sadowskys.

Probably it became a standard in the early days when Roger installed a PG and ended up with one spare screw... "what the heck am I gonna do with this one.. ah! in the middle!"

Thanks. That's the prototype that's been floating around in search of a permanent home. Fantastic bass. My RV4's no slouch either.
I agree. Absolutely beautiful. However, I do find it very difficult to play with fretlines. I learned bass on an unlined fretless and also play upright. When I see the fretlines, my mind tells me that I'm playing a fretted bass and I tend to play behind the lines. The side dots also throw me off. I'm just at home on an unlined fretless. Anyone else own a Sad fretless? I think this is the only one I've ever seen. Been wanting one for quite a while...
I've had this beauty since June 09, previously owned by Fran. Lined Ebony (sorry mponthir) solid ash, probably one of the heaviest NYC's at around 9.4lbs but still very reasonable, feels extremely solid with a better balance than any bass I've had before. It came routed also for a J/J setup with PG and pickup, haven't tried it yet. The P pickup is unbelievable, especially with the TI flats that are on it now. I really don't understand how come we don't see more of them around. It is a fabulous instrument!

Thanks guys...I took a different pic of the Vintage Amber, and one of the whole family. All NYC's and all non-chambered...just worked out that way. I have a sickness....
The Vintage Amber is an ash body, w/ quilted maple top and a 1 5/8" P-neck. The thing is, I always consider myself a J neck guy, but this P neck is Uber comfortable! Very thin comfortable profile, not chunky at all...fits my hand like a glove. Can't wait to gig her out....

Famous, that 59 burst at the bottom looks like one I had for a couple years. Did you get it from a gentleman in California?
