I ordered a NYC Vintage Jazz 5 string, Ash Body, Figured Maple Top finished in Caramel Burst with Tort PG, BE Maple Board with vintage tint, Single Coil PUPs, SS Strings with a Hardshell case.

Gonna send the remaining $775.00 to Kevin at the end of next week and everything will be in the hands of the Sadowsky Team. I will be happy to say its paid for next week.

CANT WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON THIS SUCKKA.

I know exactly how you feel. I am eager to increase my Sadowsky count, but at age 50 I have precious little life to wish away.

In early February I ordered a NYC vintage P-bass 5 (no J), alder body, Brazilian rosewood board, 20 frets, vintage tint, candy apple red with mint guard, chrome hardware. That'll go nicely with my black/black/BE maple P5, also in alder, that I received in April '05.

....Waiting on my NYC JJ 5 (Ash/ quilt maple, vintage, Caramel burst Birds eye board...)...should be ready in July... so I can finally get off the medication...:D


sok_monkee's 5-24 is GORGEOUS...

I am just eyeing another NYC, 5-24, vintage but with Nordstrand Big Singles in J-Bass positions...

Last saturday I performed a little surgery on my M5-24 and installed some Big Singles (courtesy of Gillento) and now that bass ROCKS, if they would be in J locations, I believe I would just get that extra deep growl from the neck that would make it perfect...

Done, thanks for the nudge. I am amazed at how big a difference that tort guard makes. Fran, that bass has been incredible..11years, one minor issue (old style flip type battery box) minimal set up adjustments, will take a ridiculously low set up and seems to be very easy for engineers to dial up in the studio, great to play. How much better can it get.

...Anyone has some experience with Big Singles in J positions? Am quite happy with them in the normal 5-24 positions but I hope the neck P/U will give me me a little more low end punch in the J position...

i cant imagine anything else having more punch than the modern series! you could always just goose the bass knob for that heft. it is a sadowsky afterall!

but my sadowsky 5'er has the fatstacks in the '70s position, and currently have them wired in a pullpot in reverse, so the single coil is the normal tone. i also have a valenti w/ fatstacks in regular '60s positioning. and they're both easily the best and biggest most badass jbass sound i've had to date.

the 70s positioning does make the sound little too treble pickup heavy for pickstyle stuff, but fingerstyle has a nice grindy feel, and the slap is off the charts! i lowered the bridge pickup for a 10/64" gap, while keeping the neck at the stock 7/64", and oddly, the sound is a touch smoother now. its subtle, but every little bit, right? ;) but admittedly, i do prefer the '60s sound a bit more. smoother fatter, and more the ol' jbass sound i'm used to.
