That was me! Ha! My wife was good enough to sit there for 2 hrs, and askef what the detuner was for. The first thing that popped in my mind was Big Bottom. What can I say! :) Plz note for everyone I was also playing some Meters and not all Spinal Tap!!!
Great experience at the shop!

I guess I misspoke on the very first metro will lee. I know Kevin said this was the first batch they got in (25 of them, of which I played 4). I am sure some trickled in before. Regardless, just a great bass. As a NYC owner I was really impressed with the Metros! This one being 8.5 pounds swung the deal!
I LOVE the neck profile!

And, it always seems to me that the five string neck just feels SO much more natural to me. I can't tell you how many gigs I have done on my fives and never played a single note on the B string.

i picked up a really nice Jazz 5 (Fender) at the shop recently... the neck felt absolutely amazing. the width, size, thickness... was just awesome. I wouldn't ever really use the B string... but the neck on 5 strings just rock! whenever I go to GC, I always use the Schecter Stiletto 5s or a Music Man Stingray 5 to test out amps and such. sadly, i don't own one, and owning a 5 string is probably a long ways away for me...

I need help with a couple of questions:

I am currently considering changing the pickups on my Sadowsky UV-70 5.
I love the big lows the bass has which i think is due to the 70's PU position but i want a slightly brighter sound when both pickups are being used or when a pan it to the bridge a bit more.
This brings me to the following questions.

1. The pickups on the metro basses are not the same as the NYC correct?
2. Will the Nordstrand PU be an exact fit?

What do you guys recommend?

Vic i remember you posting some stuff about changing the pickups in the past, was did you decide on?

How old is your UV-70? You may just want to start with a 500K volume pot. Pickups are the same in both the NYC and the Metro Line.
