See?? This is what I'm talking about! I NEVER see this bass used to check out gear. Never hear you talking about taking it out on a gig etc. No matter how good it is, its more of a novelty bass.
Guitarists seem to be much more open to different shapes and color. Perhaps its because most of us take a more conservative roll in the work we do or in the music we play.

There is the conservative school, but there is also the "furniture top" school. They are pretty popular as well.

This is why my other bass love is what is posted in my avatar. It is a very unique, kinda sexy look that is very different than the typical Fender-type look. Plus the basses sound and play great.;)

Personally, I've been known to gig my Steinberger XL-2 because it SOUNDS SO FREAKIN' COOL. My Reverends also get gigging time. Aesthetically, while I like the traditional Fender shape, I'm not wedded to it. It just happens that my favorite bass tone (SCs in Jazz position w/sadowsky preamp) comes in a Jazz shape.

Will is having the guy from HMR guitars finish his Sadowsky P-J metro in Orange velure. I'll be sure and take some photo's when its done, Will is a unique cat and his playing backs it up. With my playing I would never be seen with an orange crushed velure bass. Ken on the other hand, that's right up his alley:D
