Well I am selling the MV5 as I prefer the beefy feel of the "full bodied" body in the J department.
I can't justify keeping 2 almost equal basses at this price.

The PJ, being lighter and having the tighter 1.75" nut, is playing much easier. But in the sound department I let our sound engineer decide according to the room, which one I play. For boomier rooms the UV5 is better suited.

Notice the custom reddish tort guards made by Jeannie pickguards. I prefer hem over the Sadowsky tort.

What does the Sadowsky Shop consider Normal or Low Action? Can someone give me a measurement (string Height ) @ the 12th Fret for a 5 string Bass? I am gonna be getting my NYC in a couple of months and need to decide if I want a normal or low set up. I know what I consider low but not sure what Sadowsky considers low. I also posted this on the Sadowsky Website Forum so you can give me an answer here or there. Thanks,

I have a set of Sadowsky black nickels I want to try on one of my basses.

Usually, I have DR HiBeams on my Sads but I've always liked nickels on my Reverends, so I decided to give a set of the Sadowsky black nickel strings a try. Originally I was going to put them on my PJ (alder/Braz.RW) because P-bass + nickels seems like a classic recipe, but then I got to thinking that it might be interesting to see how they would sound on the WL (ash/maple), which has a very aggressive, punchy tone. They might compliment the sound of the bass well.

So . . . which should I try the nickels on -- the PJ or the WL?

Hey guys I might be joining this club in the near future!

Just a quick question for those of you who owned (or tried) both a JJ and a PJ,

whats the main difference in slap tone and fingerstyle?

I saw some great clips on youtube showcasing the JJ but I'm still debating on witch one to get!

The PJ has definetly more "booty"!!!

Hey Mike,

This is the standard setup specs from Sadowsky.

5 string @ 12th fret:

-"G" 5/64ths
-"D" 5.5 /64ths
-"A" 5.5 /64ths
-"E" 6/64ths
-"B" 6.5 /64ths

So, I decided to do a little experimenting with what is already a quite unique Sadowsky. I took out the Sadowsky soaps from my NYC Standard and put in a set of Nordstrand Big Splits. I was originally thinking of doing Big Singles but decided to try Big Splits. So, here are the visual results as compared to the soaps.

As far as the sound goes...the jury is still out. I will play with it for a month or so and see. It is definitely different. This Sadowsky already had thunderous low end like none I have ever played. So, the Big Splits tightened that up a bit. It also tightened up the top end some, as well. It has taken me a couple of days of experimenting this week to get the pickup height set to where I like the sound. It is always fun to try something new. Worst case, I put the Sadowsky soaps back and I can say I tried something new for a while. :)
