That extra inch bothered me. I just noticed that I was able to play rifts much faster and cleaner on my Sadowsky than I was on either of my 35" scale basses. And I know that it wasn't just psychological since they was both really high end basses that I did the comparison with.

I will add that the last JD I played was a breeze to play and very addictive. So maybe I'm way off on this.

I don't wanna' get too far OT here, but since you mentioned this, I need to point out that JD offers a 34" scale as a no-charge option. My Basic V is 34" and the B string is totally and completely happenin'.
