Club Sadowsky!!!

Darn it, my Sadowsky JUST made it to UPS today. I was hoping to have it by now! It's a Metro RV4 HPJ in 59' burst. I will post pics when it get's here.:hyper:

Bikeplate, tell me how good this bass is again! :D ;)

I've played other Sadowskys, but not this model...

P.S. Not that I am getting the Metro from Bikeplate, I've just heard him sing it's praises here.

Yeah, but I posted pages ago this was gonna' happen, as Mike kinda' kept me in the loop from the get-go... so no big shock, and to be honest, if that's what it took to knock us down a notch, that's ok with me. :D :D :D :D

Spectordetector, I love mine so much the first few frets are starting to wear out. Seriously. I didnt notice it. Rob at the shop pointed it out to me. Just sounds good at any gig. Oh, BTW. Gotta lose that screen name if ur gonna hang in the Sadowsky Club.;)

I asked RS to sign my bass once. He said to me "seriously"? LOL

The Hybrids are either ash body/maple board like mine or alder body/morado board. Im assuming ur bass is alder/Morado? Also, my bass was one of the first ones and I think at that point they were all 3 color sunburst. I think they are 59 burst now, but I could be wrong. The reason I think this is because my PJ5 metro is 59 burst. Is this correct, people?

As it is, I'm happy that the non-LED side dots are now larger than they were in 2005 or whenever. Not the same as having LED's of course, but the larger ones make life a little easier on dark stages.

When I first started having issues with light to dark transition I tried the reflective dots but much prefer the LED's. 3-4 good gigs or 10 blues gigs and they're paid for. ;)

Normally I would say "Don't worry and just play". But the things you can do might include the following:

Nickel strings are more gentle on frets than stainless. Flatwounds are the most gentle.

Clean the bottom of the string after every playing session or gig.

Try to play with a lighter touch on the left hand

Once in awhile, to develop a kind of muscle memory & keep my left hand touch light, I will practice a bit without using my thumb on the back of the neck while anchoring the body with the right forearm while playing.

I don't think I have mentioned this yet. The bass arrived around seven hours ago. I've played it for about four of those seven.

So far so good. I'll post a long form review about in a band setting this coming weekend/early next week. I have a pop gig where I'm subbing in on Saturday, and a theatre band rehearsal on Sunday.

First day observations/review...

Sound: This thing has some bite to it. I like the variety of sounds available. They all sound usable, and I'm anxious to hear it in a band setting. Nice sound with a pick, fingers, and slapped. The VTC is a great addition.

Playability: Great. The string spacing/fingerboard radius didn't take much getting used to. The neck feels good-I like that finish. I feel like it is taking more getting used to the strings (steels?) than anything else. This is mostly due to my schedule being double bass heavy the past few months.

Looks: I like vintage tint more than I anticipated.

Misc:
The case seems nice, but I won't be using it much. I already have a Mooradian Double Electric bag that i bought from them (Sadowsky) a few years back. I need backpack straps.

The plastic protective film is a nice touch. I don't plan on sending the bass back, so I'll take it off whenever I think of it next.

I now see why you guys have so many of these basses...they feel/sound that good.
