. . . very happy that MikeBass was able to snag my Vintage 5 - it is a great bass. Really dug those single coils. So much so that I'm thinking of trying a set in my NYC 4.
Glad that bass found a new home. It is a VERY nice bass. I never warmed to the SC JJ, but it was no doubt a sweetie.
As far as strings, I have decided to start out on the Modern with my old stand by, the DM SR2000. I have always loved them and always go back to them. I ordered a couple of sets this morning. I had a set of SS Blues 45s that were actually mostly new that I took off one of the NYC Sadowskys I had before. I put them on the Modern last night for experiments sake. That bass didn't react that well to them, IMO. I think it really is crying out for a lighter, brighter string. So, I am looking forward to the SR2000s getting here.
I'm leaving the Blues on the PJ. It's warming up to me by the moment. I played it for a while longer last night even after my post. Would I trade it for my old NYC reverse ash/maple? Probably, but the reversed PU on the old one really gave it a character somewhere in the middle of the two Sadowskys I have now. With these two, I kind of like the contrast. If I want modern, no doubt I have it. This PJ is a little more classic, which is great. When I want it, I have it.
