Now Sandberg does fluorescent side dots? Many options not listed in thier configurator...
If I knew, I would ask them to put a bridge pickup slightly forward on my tm4 custom, to match the ''sweet spot'' of MM. Then it would be perfect for me...I suppose

I've been told it would sound different because of the pickup/preamp combination are not the same.
But it probably would be as closest as Sandberg can get with their parts.
Basic model with Sandberg pickup and preamp with 3eq sound pretty close to MM.

Also talk to your local Sandberg retailer. They've previously advised me to use the configurator and then send them the spec sheet in an email including any special requests that they can get quoted by Sandberg.

this is MK1 version (pre 2015). It has different tuners, but it SHOULD have a serial. My Sandberg is better than any post 70's fender I've ever played.
It looks like it has one, engraved below the E string. If you zoom in you can see some numbers. Just not the stamp.
What is the hierarchy on these basses?
The Supreme is made in Germany? Is it top of the line, budget? How much for these new?
Is an even trade fair, or should I ask for some money?

You have a serial. Look closer under the E string tuner. There are 4 numbers engraved in the wood but very light.

Enjoying my new VM4 immensely! First gig with it last weekend... I was dead tired (we all were!) so I looked almost bored, but inside I was smiling

True, but it would get a lot closer. The preamp is what matters the least for a Stingrayesque sound.
A P pickup, wired passively (no preamp), at the right spot, sounded surprisingly close. A MM style pickup gets you even closer even if it's not a correct 'copy' of the Stingray one.
Same here. The configurator gives them the basic specs, and then add any alterations.
I considered asking for my VM4 to have the MM closer to the correct spot for a Stingray, but I changed my mind since... well, I already have a Stingray, and I liked what the P/MM combination does in a Sandberg. I'm glad I did. THis way it has its own sound, distinct, and it's a really good one.
