The pickups are Sandberg's own single coil alnicos. I don't know if they are having them wound in their shop or somewhere else, maybe someone can chime in on that...Although they sound ok, I'm probably gonna replace them with some nice split coil's. They hum when soloed (duh!) and seem to lack balls and overall punch. The hum though is the quietest I've ever heard from soloed single coils.
Either I read it in their brochure or the dealer told me but Sandberg winds their pickups in-house. Apparently they have a pretty close relationship with Delano too as they are fairly local to each other.
ah ok, I must if gotten confused. I'm pretty sure the brochure had a pic of their pickup winding machine in it, but that makes sense, they sound good either way..
I really think that Sandberg should get Buckeye Burl in their line of exotic wood tops as well. That would be a fantastic choice for those beautiful Sandberg basses. It would look great on the Panter series and the Custom series
Hi guys i will be getting my sandberg basic in 2 months time, i would like to ask how does sandberg powerbucker compared to other brand like delano or nordstrand? Was thinking of upgrading the pickup and get the delano hybrid and install a switching

I'd recommend you try your bass first.
Remember a pickup is just plastic, magnets and wire. Unlike other instrument components, the construction of a cheap, generic pickup isn't very different to a "boutique" pickup. Pickups may have different tones and volume outputs that may or may not complement your instrument, but "quality" of a pickup is a bit harder to measure.
