Beautiful! Thanks for the detail pics! I needs me a Sandberg...

How would you describe the tone of that bass?

Have a listen to this:

Although it is a youtube clip, I think it does a pretty good job of capturing some of the Sandberg sound characteristics. Playing my bass through a good pair of headphones sounds somewhat similar to this.

I don't have very much experience comparing different basses but I spent quiet some time demoing several Fender American standard jazzes and j-style Sandbergs before I ordered mine. Now that I have my new bass, I can confirm what I've heard in other Sandbergs - IMO it seems to lack a bit of the classic Fender jazz "growl", "grind", "grit" or whatever you want to call it. The sound is a bit cleaner and more balanced, not as aggressive and raw as the Fenders IMO. Sustain and tonal uniformity across the strings and the fingerboard are also far superior to the Fender jazzes I've played. It still sounds like a great passive jazz bass though, just a little different.

Hope this helps! :)

If it was a Lakland, it would be called Cherryburst. Sandberg: dunno.

Redburst! :D

I got a job in Germany and am moving there in about 3 weeks! Can't wait to check out some more Sandberg basses. I'll post some thoughts once I've had some more time with them. I'm planning on picking up a TT4 and a TM5 at some point.

Nice, where will you work. Probably your flight will go over Frankfurt, if you have some spare time I recommend you to go to Musik Schmidt, now called Session Music. They have every Sandberg model to try. Perhaps you change your mind about getting a TT or TM and end up with a Sandberg Custom. :)

"Beautiful basses those are."

Here's my flat natural California VM I got a few months ago: -

Sorry the pics are a little grainy.

Scored it ex-Demo for about half price, is nearly exactly how I would have ordered one and the Australian dealer delivered to me in person. Absolutely fantastic bass.
Saw the first other Sandberg in use on the weekend by the bassist for Grindcore band Nasum - sounded great there.

Thats a nice one! What pickups are those? Passive Häussels perhaps? There was a Sandberg jazz with lollars + the sandberg/glockenklang pre in this internet dealer:

http://www.station-music.de/

now thats a bass I would love to try out.

I don't think I've posted pics of my Sandberg yet, but here it is, Cali supreme in creme highgloss, Delano pickups. I've had it for about a year now and I'm still really loving it. Sound wise a perfect blend between vintage and modern, great playability, looks great. Wearing TI flats at the moment = tone heaven.
