I tried my latest Sandberg this weekend at a small outdoors blues gig, must say I'm very impressed with it. It's currently got a set of Pyramid Golds on it, through a MXR compressor, and into a SVT-VR:

Hi All,

Anyone out there have any comments or opinions on a Sandberg six-string?

I'm not yet sure which of the models to go for (Basic Ken Taylor / Bullet Special / Custom or California TM6) but would like a cocobolo or markassar top and black hardware (with a fretted rosewood or maybe ebony fretboard) with a three band EQ.

Anyone played a Sandberg sixer? Any opinions on the most appropriate model?

I played a fretted and a fretless Basic 6 String. The bass was good, 34" on a sixer felt a little off but the sound of the B-string was fine. Have nothing to say against a 6-string, just that I could recommend the delano extenders for such a widerange purpous, as in the Custom series. If you can deal with the price I'd look into that, you'd have a very wide range of tonal possibilities. What tuning are you looking for on you future sixer? If you want to go lower than B I would look more into Dingwall basses...

Wow I just saw a Custom Thinline with Maple/Cocobolo top as 5 string for sale from Musik-Schmidt. Amazing looking bass, sadly enough I never managed to try one.

Wow, that's beautiful. I really wish Sandberg had more of a presence here in the US, I would love to be able to get my hands on one.

I am totally GASing for a California TM4 in white, perhaps with an aged look. Just have to convince the wife that I "need" it. :)

I would go for the Custom. That is one of the High End basses from Sandberg and it's killer! With it's 35 inch scale length, the low B string is powerfull and has massive sustain! The Delano pickups have a wide range of sound so I think it's a good choice to make. Although you may not like it, I would put a beautiful Bubinga top on it. Great match for it's design!

Whats that protector on the bottom left for? American football? I saw some guy carrying one of those around here where I live but didn't gt the chance to ask.

You asked where you could get a new pickguard for your sandberg. Try send an email to [email protected] they might take a bit to answer, but should have a spare pickguard for you.

I like blueburst on ash bodies.
